Hi All, I took a trip to
Newnes today,i haven't been there for about 25 years. Not much has changed but now it has some good
camp sites, picnic and
toilet facilities. Unusual to see in most National parks ant the moment but still has a little running water in the river(more like a creek). The road is very corrugated for much of the 36 ks in but was surprised to see so many people camping there on a normal weekend. Michael

Blame all those pesky lil books that give everyone our secret
camp spots...for a fee. I don't own one, as I figure if it's in a book then it's not for me :)))))))))

the beach in a nice yacht...(grin) you can watch the crowds go by in peace .....

Hi
John, I agree ! I used to own a 21ft boat, with motors not sail. Had some great times until I got a tad too old to put it on and off the trailer at 3am in the winter :((

I actually find that it is still pretty easy to get a pretty secluded spot over the river and along! There is heaps of little nooks and crannies! If you don't like the corrugations you can go down from Bungleboori Camping ground, down the Blackfellas hand track!!!

Hey johannagoanna
The corrigations are between Blackfellows Hand Rd (Wolgan Gap) and Newenes, no avoiding them mate. I was down there Mothers day with the family and my sons eyesight has only now come good again as he had to drive the rd in an ancient Patrol with lots of rattles, poor bugger.

Michael,
Have they started work on the "Emerates Airlines" site as yet? Last I read about it, was they were expecting to turn the first sod back in April?
You can back ya bottom dollar that the
Wolgan Valley Rd will get worse between Lidsdale and the site, while construction work is underway. However, when the site is completed that section of the road will be 5 star.
I am in two minds about the construction of this complex?

How many un-registered. un-insured and I'd reckon un-licensed motorbikes did you happen to run into.
Those dang noisy trail bikes are becoming the 'jet ski' of the forests!!!!

Mate, ya not wrong! Try the road from the Zig Zag station at Clarence, down to the
Glow Worm tunnel car park on any weekend. The dirt bikers scream through that area and Ive come across them two and three abreast on the corners, doing warp speed one. Yes, mostly unregistered( and more than likely uninsured) who with total and complete disregard to the safety of others, ply their machines wanting to end up mascots on someones bullbar. About time the jack boots from
Lithgow Highway Patrol got off their butts and sorted these "accidents waiting to happen" guys out.
And "NO" I'm not an anti dirt biker, however I am anti those two and four wheelers, who have no regards for the safety of others.

Spot on, Signman & Macca,
I fear this sort of behaviour (it's been going on for ages), will be all the amunition needed for the greenies/Colong Wilderness Foundation to have their proposal for the extension of
the Gardens Of Stone NP granted. This proposal is before the NSW Parliament as we speak. If they get their way the whole area will be closed off to all but bushwalkers. I don't know the answer. Most of us do the right thing but as we know it only takes a few and..............................you know the rest.
