Can anyone please let me know how I can locate the GPS co-ordinates for the waypoint ID 76539 on this site. It is for Bilyuin Pool about 80k's north of Meekatharra.

Howard P,

According to Places:
Located 88km north of Meekatharra. Turn west 74km north of Meekatharra or 182km south of Kumarina Roadhouse onto Ashburton Downs Road. On the left after Murchinson River. (14km of dirt track)

It's not clear by this whether Bilyuin Pool is actually on the Ashburton Downs Road 14 kms off the Great Northern Highway, or 14kms of dirt road to the left along the Murchison crossing.

My OziEx says the coords of the Ashburton Road and the Murchison River are
25° 54.2982S
118° 40.0993E

However, I've found Bilyuin Pool in my Roads and Track of Western Australia 250k paper map, and it appears to be at the junction of the river and the Ashburton Road. It indicates there are shady trees and a campsite - sounds a nice stopover point if there is water in the river.

Hope this helps

Tim

Howard,

-- are you using WGS84 as a datum?
Yes.

I've entered the data into Places and then zoomed in on the spot and it seems I've missed the spot by a little when I used OziEx. Oooops.

Can't see how you'd miss it. I imagine it's one of those standard roadside stops beside a big river, and there's only one big river within 100kms.

If you want to use the coords to drop a laser bomb on it, maybe you'll need to tweak them a bit. Have a check in Places now and click on the map, you'll see what I mean.

The data you have provided will be fine, thanks. I won't be laser bombing the place, just thought it would be a good first night stop over on the way to GRR in late Sep.

Try going to Australia Govt Geoscience at www.ga.gov.au/map/names/ and type in the namws of where you want to go and it will give you the GPS co-ordinates.
