Yes, this also happened to me (my camper trailer is 10 months old). I took it back to Jayco and was informed it came from a faulty batch. They gave me a new one on the spot.

We'll see how the new one go's. If it happens again I'll request a recall.

Regards

Kim

the problem has nothing to do with the regulators at all or Jayco. Is a problem caused by plastic hose.

ok lets say it is the hose then why is jayco still selling all there vans with the hose and not the copper pigtails to fix the problem and why are thay stateing that the company that supply the regs owe jayco $15000 in falty reterns if was just the hose dont you think thay would work that out and not try to reclaim money from the reg supplyer

Camping last week a Jayco owner came over to see if we had a spare he could borrow, poor guy had to drive an hour to town to replace it.
Worst thing was he missed catching the tide and catching lunch!

I am not sure if it is only Jayco that has this problem there has been a lot posted on other forums about faulty regulators, it seems one of the problems stems from the reg. being lower than the top of the bottle - raising the reg., I am told helps solve that part of it.

it is the reg as i have cut open a few and there is a rubber seal in the smaller side on a rocker arm the rubber seems to go soft and puff up bocking the gas flow and that was on the texas and mexeco type

There was a national recall advertised in most newspapers.

We have come across this as well.I understand this is not just a Jayco problem and other van and camper builders are in the same boat. But when you have paid $30000.00 for a van they built with materials they sourced for the best price i think it should be replaced or fitted with another product and recall go out.A friend with a 3mth old van was told by Brisbane Camper that they wont replace it .Isn't that is what the warranty is for???.Jayco Gold Coast told me that Jayco would replace the unit only once.Looks like we all should get a spare fitted when they build the van.

Mark, I would have thought that a warranty covered the whole unit and its fittings? I'm on my first camper, and I just insist on any warrantable items being rectified. Fortunately, I had a good relationship with the dealer and got everything (even the smallest item) fixed under warranty (not that there was much to be done).

The usual excuse is "XXXXXX (insert manufacturer name here) won't cover that". My answer is "Not my problem" (diplomatically, of course).

They know that's a line to throw you off the scent, but if you stick to your guns you should get satisfactory results. Plus they know once you're hooked on the lifestyle you'll probably change vans a few times over the years. If they want the repeat business they'll take care of you.

Hi Guys,

Let me tell you Jayco are not the only caravan manufacturer who ducks and dives so as to avoid warranty. Seems to me that unless you have a massive problem it is cheaper to DIY, & isn't that just what they want.
But what to do?

Yes it is far cheaper [in the long run] to just go and buy a new one and fit it yourself. Don't even bother driving to the caravan yard. While your at it, get yourself a new trailer plug, a steel one, not the cheap plastic one that Jayco use.

There is nothing worse than faulty lights and indicators on a wet day when your already a few hours behind and you can't figure out why the indicators are stuffed.

A common problem with Jayco vans/campers

Problem is an issue of the gas hose and not the regulator or caravan manufacturer
The caravans with copper pig tails have no problems with the same regulator
To fix the problem you need to have the regulator mounted above the level of the tap of the gas bottle. That will stop it from causing a problem. The damage may already be done to your regulator and replacing prior to remounting higher is recomended. If you unscrew the hose from the regulator and there is oily stuff in any quantity the reg will be on its way to heaven.

Yep this is the way to go.
Many have had a prob with the regulator and the simple fix is a new one placed higher than the bottles.
Seems like there is some goo in the gas that wrecks the reg.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.
