Can anyone give me the fuel consumption of the diesel motor while towing. I'm thinking of buying one to tow a Jayco Finch which weighs just over a ton loaded. May even add an after market turbo, any
feedback will be great.

After market turbo is a good idea. Did it to my 100 series and it is even more pleasurable to drive - I pull a trailer with about 1.5t all up. Just make sure you get a good Turbo and get it dyno tuned.
I hear good things about The
Cooma Diesel in
Canberra and Turboglide in
Wollongong. There are others that people on this
forum have used and are happy with. Why don't you ask the question "If your diesel has an after market turbo and has done over 100ks trouble free with the turbo, can you tell me who did your turbo?"
Good Luck.

Here are some of my records towing with a 91 Tubo 80 with and intercooler fitted, towing a 12'8" Supreme Outback (about 1.6tonnes)
Date Fuel Dist Cost km/L L/100km Miles/Gal
15-Nov-02 84.37 448 $75.84 5.31 18.83 15.00
19-Nov-02 53.5 273 $46.28 5.10 19.60 14.41
20-Nov-02 46.32 244 $40.26 5.27 18.98 14.88
21-Nov-02 57.03 294 $52.98 5.16 19.40 14.56
22-Nov-02 29.07 166 $29.07 5.71 17.51 16.13
Wind and speed make the difference, on this trip I was solo on the hard top mostly in central Vic so avg speed was around 100km/hr, I do get better on the dirt or in convoy at about 90km/hr drops down to 15 to 14 km/L
