Well, I have in the past stood firmly by my Engel BUT.......about a week before departing for my Chrissie break I fired the Engel up....
well tried to without luck. This one is 8 month old, 80 ltr fridge freezer and was completely stuffed. Had only done one trip.
I did not worry about checking the fridge operation any earlier, as I did with most other
camp gear, as I figured the thing was almost brand new. So here I was with images of having to provide for my wife and three kids from a bloody esky again.
After calling the service agent he stated that he had already seen a couple of these with the same prob and could have it repaired, under warranty of course, within two or three days. This was music to my ears and I must say the service was excellent, as it should be for an 1800 buck fridge. The unit required an entire new cooling unit.
In summary, the fridge served us
well again, having travelled over 5500km over my hols however, I will not be jumping into any debates about fridges, beating my Engel drum quite so quickly next time.
P.S also brought a Waeco 8ltr that sits next to the drivers
seat to keep my beers cold and close to hand:-) while the wife is driving of course, works like a charm.

You're not only paying for a great fridge but also good service - which sometimes us engel owners have to use sometime ;-)

running the fridge on 240 constantly at
home over comes that problem, i have an explorer and it has run constantly for thr past 8 yrs with no problems just fill it up with water bottles and leave it on lowest settiing, the small compressors are better of running than doing nothing for long periods. Col
