Seeing we have had these terrible fires in Vic and Australia Day is coming up, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of 4wd locations that might be open. As its only 3 days guess can't go too far.

Any suggestions????

From Adelaide I am heading down to Beachport for the weekend with 2 other vehicles. I have heard that it is going to be a popular place over that weekend.
Can't wait to get down there though as I have not been able to get offroad for quite some time.

Big River, Tallarook, Barmah Forest, Otways, Wombat Forest, Kinglake, Rubicon, Mt Emu, Snowy river, Upper Murray, Beechworth forests, Robe, Portland dunes, Wyperfeld Desert, Strathbogie forests, Yarra ranges, Kinglake just to name a few.............. From easy sightseeing drives to double diff lock country in that lot, take your pick. Despite the usual high country locations being burnt Victoria still has heaps of great 4x4 destinations.........It's not really the end of the world ;-)
Cheers Craig...........

Dunno where your from, but Pinnabar Pendagast state forests are pretty vacant. In 3 days of camping over the New Years in the high country we saw only 3 other vehicles. Nice drive around Mt Pinnabar (Australias highest 4x4 track ??), Mt Alexandra, Mt Gibbo etc. There is water in creeks, but tracks are very dry, never seen that amount of dust on any high country tracks before. Driving between Pinnibar and Gibbo, the car looked like it was covered in bulldust.

Tallarook is good but very dry, Mt Dissapointment i would say would be the same as they are very close together, there are still heaps of parks and state forests open. Went to Beachport and Robe on Melb cup w/end, one word ,SENSATIONAL!!!!
Cheers Geoff
