Hi to all,

I have a small problem with my cruiser's headlights. They are a bit too high and I get flashed by oncoming vehicles. Would anyone have any advice on how to adjust headlights down.
There are two small notched screw type thingo's, and I have had a go at them, but they do not seem to make any difference.

Would appreciate any advice anyone may have

P.S I have been on the side for some time, but this is my first

Goldfind,
I will be watching this thread as I am in the same boat at the moment. I to have tried to adjust mine with what I thought was the adjustment screws but without luck and buggered if I can see any other way.

Thanks for your feedback Toytruck.
I have tried several places today, and have now booked into Auto Elect for Monday. He had a look and is saying that the serrated washer/nut thingo is definately the adjustment. You use a phillips head to move the notched washer.
Might pay for me to buy a manual, it seems such a silly thing to not be able to fix.

Goldfind,

Just looked in my workshop book (Ellerys) there are two screws for each light. One each side of headlight globe, on back of headlight. Doesn't say which does what!!!

In the 100 series group on Yahoo in the files section it has some advice on headlight aiming Yahoo 100series group You have to be a member to have a look.
It says that Adjuster A is the vertical. I had a go and never really had much luck at adjusting them properly and still get flashed.

These are the instructions there - I bet it is not really much help! Stuffed if I know what the sketch of the adjusters is - can't orient myself.

I too will be watching this with great interest, as my headlights are too low, after the suspension was lifted.

I have wound the screws on the rear of the headlights to no avail. :(

The thing I did was put a washer behind the mount for the headlight that is above the light so that it tends to angle the whole thing down a bit. Can't really remember what it was like without having a look again tomorrow but it helped without really fixing it. I asked Toyota when it was near new and they said it was fine. As they would!

Goldfind
put a socket on the middle one-its much easier to adjust than trying to use a screwdriver
cheers fozzy

Fozzy,

Yes I agree, trouble is I could not find socket or spanner anywhere that tiny. And to make it more difficult to access I have dual Delco batteries behind each headlight position.

I have since surrendered and had them adjusted by local auto elect. he said that both headlights had been screwed up as high as they could go and then the adjusters had gone off thread. So that was why I got nowhere trying to adjust with a screwdriver.

Thanks for you input
