hi guys. any advise on what
suspension to put on the LC. The back seems to be sagging a bit, and I wouldn't mind a couple of inches higher than stock standard. We also tow a 1.2T jayco camper. Do I have to replace springs and shockers or just shockers? any advise would be great.
thanks
scotch

Dave,
ARB Old Man Emu.
I have OME 850 front springs, and 863 Rear. Raises vehicle about 50mm front and rear from standard. Makes for a far more comfortable ride, especially when loaded, and gives better ground clearance. I also had the castor kit fitted on the front radius arms which makes it no different to drive friom a non-lifted car.
Best to speak to them as they will go through what options you have (winch, batteries, storage system and ball weight from your van.
Mine was very sagged prior to getting it done and it took a bit to get used to it however after 4 years I would never go back to standard height.

Another vote here for Old man emu- They are one of the smoothest rides I have had.
Replace both springs and shockers at the same time- its cheaper and means you wont break shocks when your 2" taller spring starts fighting your standard height shocky over travel.
If you are doing the work yourself it also makes sense to do it at the same time as you'll need to stick the 80 on axle stands to do springs anyway and shocks are easiest to get to then.

Yet another vote for OME shocks and springs. I have the 2" lift on
mine and I have added Polyair bags to the rear. When towing the Jayco, inflate the Polyairs to 30psi and it rides level and handles very
well.

Yep, I got King 3" springs and Koni adjustables. Do both at the same time.
I should have gone for just 2" springs....Kings or OME? you pick. 3" required max offset castor bushes and still would be good with some more...2" will probably still require castor kit but will handle much better.
Koni Adjustable - Awesome shocks, love them, only pain is that you have to undo the bottom of the tube and twist it to adjust them....
No prob's towing my Cub Offroad camper with 3" and it actually sits dead level so should be fine with 2" also.
Cheers

We replaced our shocks and springs at the same time cos they were bloth clagged out.....put in Kings Springs and Ultima Big
Bore Shocks.....asked for a 2'' in the front and a 3'' in the back...not sure if the back was done at 2 or 3 though....we load ours up when travelling.....the photo in my thingy of us at
Curdimurka is extremely loaded....full of Lpg, petrol + extra water and fuel on roof.....looks pretty bad, in the photo, but she rides brilliant loaded and unloaded....
Laura
ours is an 80 too

There are plenty of springs around that probably are all pretty much of a muchness.
It is up to you whether you change shockers as
well but it is
the springs that carry the weight so they have to be changed. If you are doing very little Off road or corrogated road stuff then you may as
well just stick with the original shockers but if theuy are buggered then you may as
well upgrade them at the same time.

Another vote for OME. I have 2" raised OME in my 95 LC80 with OME nitrocharger shocks and a 4-way RTC steering damper, plus castor bushes. I had an OME kit in my Pajero prior to this. I couldn't speak highly enough of the difference it makes, the ride quality and the after service support.

OME springs and Bilstein shocks here. Springs seem ok but the Bilsteins are absolutely fantastic - would recommend to anyone. By many accounts Lovell springs and Bilstein shocks are a great combo.

You only need to update springs if shocks are OK.
You might also want to install Polyair airbags to stop car from sagging with the camper in the tow.
If you want the best
suspension which will improve handling and comfort then
2" lift bilsteins with either kings, lovells or ridepro springs would be the best.
ARB setup would be in the second spot, but a way behind the first...
