Can people please suggest some light weight caravan options. We are limited to a max towing capacity of 1500 kgs and want an off road pop-top caravan. We currently have a Jayco Hawk, and are happy enough with the wind up roof, just annoyed with the bed ends (yeah I know - lazy!). Its for 2 adults & 2 dogs
We have considered Jayco
Penguin, KimberlyKamper, Trakmaster Sturt - all good but what else is there?

I had an old Viscount Nipper (10'6") weighed only 590kg dry and departure and entry angles to die for in an offroad van. It was however only an onroad version but slight mods by a caravan repairer would fix that. They are not too hard to get a hold of and worth a look in my opinion.
The smaller your van (and the lighter) the further up the track you will get.
Cheers, Trevor.

Rambada,
It may be bit close to yer weight limit but have a look at the smaller Supreme Getaway Offroader. We've got one, we love it and we hammer it. The
suspension is off an "Abrams Battle Tank" ;) Fits 2 adults and one dog,,,,,,,,,
BTW - if you're wanting an,"an off road pop-top caravan", why are you looking at such things as a
Kimberley Kamper which is, as it says, a camper?

55 grand ??? How much do you pay for an offroad "fullsized" caravan ?? Me thinks a bit more than 55 grand !!
Theres a market out there for all sorts of tastes ( and money )
I only have a CT, but I don't knock anyone who can afford ( or wants ) a 55 grand caravan. Have seen 5th wheelers for 140 grand, but if thats what you want ( wish I had that sort of money )
Same as I don't like someone who prefers to
camp out of a tent knocking me for having the luxury of a CT !! And I don't knock them for using a tent ( it sure would have saved me a bit of money if I stuck to a tent )

Good luck with your search. What one provides, another van will loose something. I would be checking out the caravan shows myself, bearing in mind that not all brand will be their.

Forgot to mention, their was one style of camper trailer/van at the last show. I can't remember the name of it now and it was over my budget but perfect for yours. It squashed down like a camper t but switch on the erection button and up it went. Lovely hard covering and great windows. It has only just come out but it was brilliant. Air con models and all. Hey your in luck I have found the last shows layout.
Brisbane RV on 38883273 were the stockists, they shl help u with the brand and model.
