Hi All,

I am looking at the possibility of changing my fourby from my current 60 series to a dual cab ute (not single cab) as the design fits my style of travelling better.
I want to stay with diesel as I love the economy, engine breaking and low revving power.
Have looked at most dual cabs including hilux, rodeo, courier, bravo etc. and all except hilux have independent front ends. I am not a hard core 4Wdriver but have done the Cape, Simpson, kimberley, vic high coutnry etc and dont want to be limited by my choice of vehicle.
A front live axle coil setup would be preferable but none seem to be available in dual cab setups in my price range.
Can anyone advise me of the capabilities of these "indendently sprung" utes and any suggested mods that put them in the non-modified 60series league.
Also can anyone tell me what year the hiluxes went over to ifs and what their ifs is like.
I have a budget of up to $12,000 so I am not looking at new models!!

Cheers all

Andy

What do 130 Defenders go for?

They would be the only vehicle that fits your criteria.

I do know that my lifted Disco would bleep all over my previous lifted Rodeo.

Hilux went IFS around 1992 in the SR5 models, then went all IFS somewhere around 1996.

So it will be an old hilux if you want live axle front end, and they had horribly underpowered engines.

As already stated, there are conversion mobs who will convert your 60 into a dual cab.

I have a calmini 3" kit in a Rodeo dual cab, makes a world of difference, comes with new upper control arms to keep everything aligned, but they (and any such kits for other makes) are not cheap.
