G'day all,
I just fitted a new radiator to my '96 hilux diesel. The old one was beyond repair. The problem i have now is that the water that goes into the overflow bottle doent flow back into the radiator when the engine cools down. When i pop the cover on the overflow bottle i can hear bubbles coming from sumwhere but as my hearing is hopeless im not sure if its from the bottle or radiator. Yesterday when i checked it ,the bottle was full so i drained a bit out and poured it back into the radiator. There are no leaks anywhere in the system ie: hoses radiator etc etc.
Has anyone got any ideas why its not syphoning back into the radiator?
Cheers Mick

Gday Mick

My guess would be the radiator cap, or a bit of a pinhole or crack in the tube to the overflow.

All of the above plus check that the hose that goes to the little cap on overflow bottle is connected to the the long dip tube.Took me a while to work out that problem with mine and at some stage when serviced by guess who "toyota" they must have disconected it, what for I have no idea and put back together wrong so it would blow the water out into overflow bottle but because it want connected to the long tube that goes towards the base of overflow bottle could not suck the water back in. Took me a few days to work that one out. Steve M
