We have just put down a deposit on a new 2007 eagle outback.
Which they have not even put out a display model.
I have heard that the 2007 will be even better as it will be Fibre glass.
I would like to know other peoples opinion on the Eagle outback range, as feed back is so varied.
Any feed back would be great.

I just sent an email to Jayco. To enquire about the warranty. As I was told if damage was done the the caravan, it would be covered only if it was during general use and not total abuse.

I am in an exact same position with Coromal. Paid $6500 deposit was unhappy with the model I saw and cancelled. Same as you the model had not been built,
mine was due to be constructed end April 2007. Now involved with a solicitor trying to get back my deposit. Costs are $2000 and rising, Coromal WA has parachuted saying their hands are tied. Buyer Beware, or better still deposit owner beware.
Best of luck.

So fingers crossed.

I forgot to add that Coromals "off road" van is not covered by warranty for off road.

Hi Robert we have had our outback eagle for 18 months bought new, for value for money you can't go wrong $18,400 we paid included 2 tanks tregg hitch flys and awning and boat racks.
The new model will be just as good if not better we looked at the coromal but for 7k more could not justify just take a look in a caravan park 90% jayco not to say there quality is better because its may not be. Our neighbors bought a $65k off road van and thats not up to scratch.
If you want to take it off road as we have before we started using it removed all cupboard screws i mean all, under benches and a dollop of glue and replaced, also added extra ones, added some extra rubber seals to front and rear to stop dust and covers for fridge and door,we had next to no dust inside, some may say you need inderpendant susp. but we have found it fine and our new luxy has the same on the rear without the greasable shackles, added rubber flaps to cover tank taps and extended shock shields strengthened rear bar as it could be lifted up and down(that was really slack) also we have tool box, genny and bikes on it. they just need going right over to strengthen the weak points. On our last trip starting in
adelaide,
gregory nat park,
gibb river rd,
cape leveque,tanami rd,
gawler rangers and
home the camper did very
well apart from one shock breaking the welded bracket off the chassis on the tanami but then the both front shocks on the lux died(toyota replaced them under warranty, no probs just removed shock and now have strengthened them both the brackets .over all they are a great family camper as we had one like the cavalier and now we have kids they are great especially to get off the ground.

Hi Time waster.
Thank you for the feed back.
We also have looked at so many different vans, but we always seemed to end up back at the Jayco.
When you say dust covers to the fridge, you mean the vent on the outside??
I have also heard you can put a whirly gig on the roof of the van to put pressure on the inside to stop dust coming in. Have you heard of this?
Hopefully Jayco may do something about the shocky bracket this year, As this has been a problem for a long time.
Thanks again for the info.
Cheers
Rob

Yes Rob the fridge covers are for the outside and we turn the fridge off when these are on now we wished we had gone the 12/240V fridge with compressor as the 3 way draws 18amps and you need such thick cable if you want it work
well on 12v which ours does because there is no thermostate on the 12 volts and if we are not careful will freeze the veg and don't they get cranky at that, but you don't get long if you leave on the 12v we have run 2X 6mm cable positive and neg through an anderson plug to the camper batt and fridge and still after a days travel we have a half charged camper batt.
On our first couple of trips we got dust on the sheets and quilt at the bed ends but after putting a soft sticky foam rubber from bunnings we have no more dust yes the roof vent may work the best would be the push up one but i figured you would get dust in from the car.

Thanks for the further advice.
We have a couple of Engel's. So the fridge will hardly be used.
So even when you are driving along with the van battery on charge it still drains it??
This is our first van. As we have always used swag's. Show we must be getting old.
So we will have some learning to do.
Thanks again
Rob

if you are towing with a patrol or have a 4b with the spare on the back get them to make the drawbar 300mm longer so you can open the beds out without having to unhook the van

We will have it behind a 100 series cruiser.
There is only the 2 of us, so if we don't unhook we can just pull out the back bed.
But nice to know that this is a problem.
Cheers

You will need to still pull out both bed ends as this is the struts/staberlizer for the roof not to move too much.

Things you are not told, when you buy.
I'm sure more and more things will come up. But being the first van we have bought. We will learn a lot before we buy the next one.
