I have done a quick analysis of the sites search function trying to determine which state or territory is mentioned the most on the forum.

The results are interesting, though I am not quite sure what they mean.

I have given each state or territory 2 scores. The first score is the number of search results writing the name of the state or territory into the search function. States or territorys with more than one word have an "and" inserted between words as per search function guidelines. The second score is the number of search results writing the state or territories acronym into the search function.

I summed both results to give a total score for each state or territory though I did not count external territories.

Results as follows in total search results order:

1. Victoria - 19941 results
2. Queensland - 13165 results
3. South Australia - 13132 results
4. Western Australia - 12658 results
5. New South Wales - 11499 results
6. Australian Capital Territory - 2967 results
7. Northern Territory - 2080 results
8. Tasmania - 1121 results

Well done Victoria, though perhaps we are just talking about past queens, or maybe the Victoria River.

I might add that if you add the commonly mispelt "West Australia" to that states results it would make that state go to second place at 13640 results.

Cheers to all

Equinox

From a non technical/statistical perspective I would say

WA...Deserts, coasts, Kimberley
Vic....High Country
SA....Flinders, Simpson and beaches
Qld....Simpson and Cape York
NSW...Outback, High Country and coastal region
NT......Outback
Tassie........too far for an easy run
ACT ...?

Cheers

Yes agree with you generally but think NT has a good north as well with Kakadu and all, and I would have thought it would have been higher on the results list.

I know I'm sad Trekkie.

Believe me as soon as I can get out of here I will be out, soon being at least June. Reading the forum it seems a few people will be out and about then.
