Planning to do the bottom half of the CSR this year, and leaving the Camper in Newman. Does anyone know thw road distance to Georgia Bore from Newman.

From the notes its 870k from Georgia Bore to Wiluna with a loop out to the Calvert Hills, so just need to work out the rest.

Thanks in advance.

G'day Tony,
just looked at some of my old notes.
Pretty close to 420 km.

Cheers,
Mike

Tony

Did that route last year(or rather some of it). Its about 413km(Hema Maps).
Road was good up to the Cotton Creek turnoff on Talawana Track. Then its 61km of pure hellish corrugations to Georgia Bore. We came in from the CSR.

It is a worthwhile excursion in to the Calvert Range. Its about 40km into the main campsite at the Calverts. You will do another 40-100 just looking around the area. There is a driveable track all the way to Birrell Rockhole in the east. So add at least 200km of bushtracks off the CSR.

So you are looking at around 1300km of fuel(I take it the 870 from Georgia to Wiluna includes the Calvert excursion).

Last year I refuelled at Tjukarilja Roadhouse on the GCR then drove the David Carnegie and Eagle Highways and cross country to Birrell Rockhole then Calvert Range, George Bore and Newman. I used 280lts of fuel over 1546km and about 200km was done in low range.

Cheers

Good info Willem. There will be two vehicles so thinking of fuelling at Well 23, and shareing a 200lt drum for the southern leg.

Yes doing the loop out to the Calvert Range, the Birrell Rockhole sounds interesting, so will add in another 60 - 80k.
