G'day Folks, Jumped onto the Bushranger website yesterday and I notice there is an updated release of the Max Air compressor. Obvious changes are the air entry is now through the crankcase area and not the head. They are also listing it as have a slightly higher pumping capacity and the hose has a heatproof cover where it connects to the pump. I'm about to buy one and and wondering if it's worth waiting for the new version to hit the shelves or buy the currently proven model. I can get one this week for $287.00 on a sale.

Rays Outdoors are having one of their 26.5% off sales locally. They do not have them all at the same time and it seems to be one store at a time so keep your eyes peeled! If you are a VIP member you will be notified in advance of these sales.

New one should be on the shelves now. I looked at a new one at ORE today.

They have made some mods to the whole range.

The old model still pumps ok,does my 33 BFG from 17-35psi in less that 15 mins.

Depends on how often you use it. If its 7-8 times a year ,is the extra $80 or so worth it to save 3 mins a time?

Once you burn yoursaelf a few times on the old model you start to learn;)

Dear Madcow, Why a Bushranger Max Air 2 ? The Projecta 'Typhoon' has a whopping flow rate of 150 liters per minute ( bleep es on the Bushranger Max Air 2) with a far larger motor (600 watt). The relevant performance indicator is that the Typhoon pumps a 31X10.5X15 tyre from 15 psi to 30 psi in 1 min 10 secs, and a 33X12.5X15 tyre from 15 psi to 30 psi in 1 min 20 secs. Cost of the Projecta Typhoon ? Varies from $190 to $280 depending on source. I was quoted $189 at Bursons last week. This seems a no brainer to me. Or am I missing something ?
Best regards, Bernie.

I have not heard of the "typhoon". It sounds pretty good but as I type this I already have purchased a Max Air last night and will give it a workout this weekend around the Yackandandah area. Thanks for your responses and have a good weekend!!

I bought the Projecta Typhoon compressor. Got it from Inject-a-carb.com.au. Cost $198 including shipping. It pumps up a 175/82 r16 tyre from 0-30psi in about 1 minute. I also tried it out on a single air mattress, it took about 3 minutes.

It looks like its the same as this one that is always on ebay.

The Bushranger Max Air 2 looks very similar to the typhoon and all the other cheap compressors.

For twice the air at half the price I was willing to take a chance. It's worked out good so far.
