Hi all, took a while for a return letter but has been in my favour and the fine which was given to me back in december for "failing to stop at
orange light" has been noted on my driving record as a caution only & will not occur any loss of points or money to be paid. Glad to see common sense was noted by the person/s who received my letter. But can tell you from now on will be stoping on the line as soon as the lights go amber and bad luck to any body that runs up my ars#. I have already kept the original fine in my glove box so that any body that does run up my ars# and asks why did I stop I will be producing the original fine to them. If I see a 20 tonne semi heading my way will be a different story though, I'l be back a peg and hit the loud pedal not that has much of an effect in a 2.8d hilux. Steve M

Good to see you've joined the club, i myself stop when the light goes amber, too many close calls on motorbikes is my reason for doing it.

I remember reading your post, good on yu .
I would rather run up someone's ars# than have a car run up my ars#.
It happened to me Sep 06 at the lights in
Adelaide hitting someone in a forward motion dosn't seam too bad but when someone run up the back of you at even slow speed it seams a lot worse.
I had 4 others in the car and we all had sore necks .I recon we all were only traveling at about 10km at the time and I had to brake suddenly and the car behind didn't .

It is an offence to enter an
intersection when the light has changed to amber/yellow.
The object of the amber light is to allow the
intersection to clear, not as most drivers arriving at an
intersection seem to think, the amber light means 'speed up' & get there before it turns red!

I know the rules Shaker, 2 fines in 22 years due to being alert and class myself as a safe driver this is including driving trucks/semis towing caravan etc for years yes not saying I have never sped or done a u turn where I shouldnt have that was luck I didnt get cought if I did then I would have copped it on the chin and payed up but I was only a couple of metres from the lights when they turned amber and on a down
hill run at the same time with a load of timber in the back of my ute and at no time had the lights turned red prior to me getting through the
intersection. It also states in the rules to stop unless safe to do so. It is an offence to enter the
intersection if you are behind the line waiting (stoped) for the car in front to move due to traffic or turning right and you then cross the first line when the lights have already turned to amber that is fair enough. And yes a fair few drivers do give it a gutful to run the amber. Rta webite page 69 & 70 Rule 57 & 58. Anyway glad they realized I was not at fault and saved myself 3 points and $308. Steve M

No offence taken Shaker, but wasnt even anyone behind me either. I also put that in the letter that no one was behind so the risk of anyone running up my ars# wasnt even an issue just purely handed over to me. Maybe the coppers judgement was different to
mine. I know there only out there doing there job which I wouldnt do for quids copping all the sh#t they cop from people and catching people driving DUI which I have no problem with and at the end of the day there usually the first people we call if in trouble. Maybe he just woke up and was having a bad day which we all do at some stage and I was the unlucky one, mind you I didnt think much of him at the time but hey I was just as bleep #y when he handed it over to me as
well. I was willing to take it further if needed. So that has put me in good mood for the night. Have a good one. Steve M

I know rules change state 2 state but in Wa no one qs throuh the
intersection performing a RHT making it difficult o do a RHT on a busy
intersection (should be able to Q 3vehicles into the ntersection to turn right when oncoming traffic has stopped) an one know the legalitties?? In
Perth city mos streets ar 1 way meaning it isnt much of an issue butin Adlaide it is esential to q into the
intersection to perform a RHT. Or are Sandgropers unale to grasp the compexities of a RHT along with proper indicating for roundabouts.
BTW from recent reading of road rules you shouldnt have even been cautioned sounds like butt covering for the sort of copper the top shelf love and will fast track him to seargent for being and ARRzole

Hi there Davoe, we are allowed to have 1 vehicle q in the middle of an
intersection waiting to turn right and if the light still green when that vehicle moves off you take his place and so on till the light goes yellow/amber and if at that time you are waiting behind the line you are not allowed to proceed and must wait for the next green light. Yes agree with you that some of the intersections you could easily have 2 or 3 ready in a q but not allowed here in NSW. As said above probably just having a bad day as we all do at some stage. Anyway end result was good and glad they saw common sense. Steve M

Well Stephen , you have taught me something tonight . I never new that only one car could sit in the
intersection waiting to turn right in NSW.
I have been doubling up for years without being booked and I would be surprised if there were lots of other people ignorant of this law . Maybe the coppers ignore it as being a foolish rule .
Thanks ,
Willie .

Hang on!!, something dosen't make sense here. Not allowed to enter a
intersection on amber light, So in a semi with 30ton on and your 3mtrs from the stop line and the light goes
orange! Don't enter the
intersection?Thats never gunna happen !! AND its never gunna happen in a landy ute with a 1ton excavator bucket in the back. lol.
Cheers Axle.
