Better late than never,

Thanks for the welcome home post guys.

Yes I am home and am happy that I returned with the same number of holes in my body as when I left.

My wife was 30 mins late picking me up from the airport as she had raced off to give my beloved Prado a tub before I landed .... lol.

2nd day home I discover that the broadband modem has thrown a wobbly and isn't working so I can't even check my emails.

3rd day I am home some dill rear ends my Prado in the carpark at Woolies. The impact put a concave curve in the end of the bumper that even a supercharged hairdryer couldn't budge and also broke all the internal mounts on the last bit of skirt on the drivers side. Heard about a plastic welding mob near here who may be able to weld the mounts back on for $50 or so and they also provide replacement bumpers ( unpainted ). The guy wants $250 for the replacement bumper as Yota wanted $350 for an unpainted original ( they wanted $385 for a painted segment of plastic side skirt !!!). Will take the broken bits over for him to check tomorrow and haggle over a price.

My Couplertech has arrived in the mail and I am in the middle of installing that but have had a couple of downpours (wooohooo !!! ) that have interrupted play.

I am also trying to catch up with Ivan for the hand over of a 2nd hand Unichip which should be installed in a week or so, once the rear end is repaired.

Baby is giving SWMBO a fair bit of grief - sleepless nights etc but still on track for an April 12 debut ride in the Prado ( which means I will probably sell the cargo barrier I bought but have yet to install - If you're interested drop me a line).

Worst of all the big bucks have stopped flowing so now I have to be a lot more frugal with the pennies.

Ah well ... at least its warm here, no more going to work in minus 27C wading through snow and ice.

Hoping to get together with a few other vehicles for a play somewhere local in the not to distant future .... any takers ?

Time to crack another Bundy can and catch up with the last week of posts I have missed.

Cheers ... Taz

Welcome Home

Was having a quick look at some of your photos would have been a interesting and neve racking experience being in those arias during that time too say the least.

I take it you are in the army? Thou in the Photos you aren’t sporting an identifiable uniform?

Isn’t much left off that Corolla that’s for sure!!! For sale one slightly used Corolla, low K’s, compact, one owner only driven to church on Sundays (slight panel damage) LOL

Exploder,

Ex-Army. Did 15 years with the big green love machine but now I work (worked - just ended contract) with a civilian company ( referred to in the media as a Private Military Company PMC or for your standard sensationalistic, hand on sausage journo a " mercenary company")

Was 95% boring as bat droppings but as the photos depict things got hairy on occasion.

Now its back to the quiet life, mowing lawns and vacuuming the house etc.

Cheers ... Taz

Arr I thought it might have been some arrangement like from the M16 and rather casual looking clothes in the photo, didn’t want’s to go jumping to conclusions.

The pay would have done wonders for the old retirement fund but, calculated risk I suppose.

Cheers.

Welcome Home Taz

Glad to see that you got home in one piece. Is that it? Or do you have to do another tour of duty?

Cheers

Hi Willem,

Thats it for a year or so .... maybe .... lol.

We are hoping to build a child care centre so if that gets up and running then hopefully I won't have to go back for financial reasons ..... however .... in 12 months time I might be getting a bit bored, you never know.

If I was tempted to go back I would conduct a risk assessment and weigh up the numbers. It depends on the company you are working for, the protective equipment and weapons they provide, vehicles, nature of the work and exposure etc etc.

It would certainly be safer if I stayed home but I am not the sort of person that says I am never going to do that again .... circumstances change to frequently and I wouldn't want to have to eat my hat or something ... lol.

Cheers ... Taz

Welcome back to the Real World, TMQ.
Arseended in a flamin parking lot eh?
Possibly best you didn't witness: could have become messy.
Best wishes to M in the lead-up to April 12.
Stay easy Taz. Jeff.

Thanks Jeff,

Now I will actually have to do some work instead of being paid to sit on my dot and watch movies etc.

Welcome back Taz - glad you have returned safe and sound, but with the eventful day and sleepless nights with a baby you may want to go back for some relative peace and quiet!

Hahahaha,

Don't tempt me with sensible suggestions ... lol

I think I would be heading for a 2nd divorce if I tried to pull a stunt like that.

Welcome Home Taz,

Don't drink all the Bundy cans, some of us also like the stuff.
Good to see your hame and in one piece, I presume that rain fall is a bit out of place for you as well as us, it is only an excuse for the grass to grow to prevent us working on the 4by ha ha ha

Cheers Kev

Hi Kev,

Thats nearly 3 years overseas on Ops. At least the finance director at Bundaberg won't have to keep writing me letters asking me to come home as profits are down !

If it keeps raining I might actually have some grass to mow. A lot of the guys I worked with are old Army mates still living in Townsville and they are seeing glimpses of there homes being half washed away. One end of the country is suffering from flood damage and the other end is still enduring drought damage ! Crazy !
