Hi all, I am considering purchasing a bar with double side rails from Tuff Bars in
Toowoomba. Can any body recommend them? All up cost $3000, seems very pricy!!! I have a 79 series cab chassis. Thanks for any help, Daryl.

Unless you are doing bullcatching why would you want them.
My experience with side rails is that they are good chassis twisters especially if you give something a good nudge out there(like a stray bullock onm a dark night).
Save yer money for travelling or somethging else....:-D

Willem, a mate had a 100 series and hit a medium size roo on the left front quoter panel $800 later decided to fit some. But I didn't think about chassis damage might skip the idea I think, thanks.

if your even considering it at $3000 you have too much money - go for it.
FWIW I hit a roo in the GQ with just an ARB bar, no side rails, and kept driving

Over the past 6 years I've done
well over 10k in damage to various vehs. Travelling to work & back i probably hit 1 per month. Take away the side rails the bar is 2k and if the Tuff Bars are good quality ( which is the reason I posted - to find out ) then in the long run I'll be saving $.

$2000 for the bar alone? is it a 20 post bar designed for B&S HQ utes or something?

Couple of weeks ago hit a big roo at about 80kmh.
Damage? - Crush cans on the ARB bar needed replacing (about $170) and a new headlight (Roos head went through it)
I'd be a bit worried about damage to the chassis to, not something I had thought about but can see how it could, chassis was never designed for side loads. I always thought the side rails would be good off road in washouts if you slipped sideways, might save some damage but now not so sure.
Anyone else had experience with chassis damage from them?
