33's on 1995 Mitsubishi Triton 4wd

I own a 95 triton dual cab 4wd... luxury edition that comes with alloy wheels. I am doing a lot of 4wd'ing and thinking of putting steel wheels on instead. Questions are: What 15" rim should i use? And can i fit 33' tires and if not, what modifications are needed?

Standard offset Navara rims(Sunrasia style) are what was recommended for
mine ('03 Triton), pretty sure they didn't change that much over the years... Of course it's best to speak to a wheel/tyre expert... I'm told but have not tested the theory that 32's are the biggest I can fit. I have proved that under extreme flex(If you can call it that...lol) my 31's will slightly scrub on the inside of the rear wheel arches.
Food for thought, I'd suggest asking the experts before you make a firm decision.

I have the 95 dcab triton (not lux spec) with 15x7 sunraysia steels ('navara' offset). Before I went with the current 30x9.5 (to match original 205r16 dia), I tried the common 31x10.5 for size and found even these scrubbed the front mudflaps on turning.
I would think the first prob would be actually fitting the 33's in the front wheel arch. Do a quick
check - 33's are roughly 838mm in diameter.
2ndly, this size tyre would need an 8in wide rim (15x8), and in the 'cruiser' offset (wheel centre is more to the inside of the rim).
3rdly, you would probably need to lift the whole thing up, and while this is easy in the rear, the front torsion setup is not so friendly in this dept - there is not enough lift in the std bars for this sort of job.
for all these probable dramas, will 33's offer much more than a good set of 31in (or possibly 32in) muddies in the scrub?

thanks heaps for the information... I spent more time reading through the archives than waiting for a reply. the feeling i get is its not worth the effort in even trying to fit 33's. The problem I am trying to solve is ground clearance. a few times I have followed a car into a
mud hole and the front diff has got me stuck... then to reverse and have the back stuck. So, let me ask another question - what else can i do to get some more ground clearance? and when I read about
treks in magazines/books that recommend 'high ground clearance', does the triton in standard form fit the criteria?

With Front Torsion bars, getting more diff clearance is pretty limited.
Have yours ever been adjusted? (I assume they are the original bars). If not, then you can get these 'wound up' to gain possibly 2in, but this also reduces wheel travel to virtually nil.
Best to get some advice from a
suspension shop. There are aftermarket torsion bars available which would give more height and still retain some wheel articulation (still buggar all)
Easiest way to get more diff clearance is to fit larger tyres (but not 33's!) to give an extra 25mm or so.
'95 Triton in std 4x4 form would fit into 'high ground clearance'. Vehicles that maybe wouldn't are ones like forester etc, although the new crop of Hilux & Navara don't look as high as the older models.
