I have a 93' model 4Runner SR5 with V6 and manual g/box with 240k.
3/4 syncro packed it in and I need a syncro sleeve.
I have been advised that Toyota no longer carries the part here or in Japan and Toyota will not be producing any more! This was confirmed by the spare parts manager at Chadstone Toyota here in
Melbourne.
A gearbox repair
shop say they build one good gearbox from parts out of three others because of the unavailable part(s).
Does anyone know what the 'real' story is - this will eventually have effects on many Hilux vehicles as
well?
cheers
Graeme

Personally I think that that is criminal.. car is only 10 yrs old and they dont carry spares for a gearbox?????
its not even a rare model!!!
I know someone who had a gearbox from a Jackaroo made up from several boxes, adn it died 5 months later...
Can you get the part machined up instead, I dont know what the part looks like, so have NFI, but I wouldnt go with the second hand part..
Or try Toyota in USA maybe.. They have heaps of Lux's over there.
Good luck.

Thanks to all you guys with your assistance, most appreciated.
I have decided to bite the bullet and go with a changeover g/box, 4Runner has been off the road 2 weeks already!
The old gearbox had done 240k so it may have other problems, the changeover was said to have done 60k.
cheers all
