I seem to be having a lot of problems getting my _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx made or even a price to be honest.
I am making a draw under my ute tray and cannot seem to get anyone to make up the draw which is just bent sheet metal into a rectangle type shape with ends. I will put it all together.
So any body know someone in the North of
Brisbane area that does this sort of work.
Thanks
Brian

Yeah i know bluey's ute world ...... but thiers is a standard size and I am after a different size, so need it bent to the size.
May just go to the 4x4 body
shop at Brendale and see what they can do. The problem I guess is its just to small to bother about for these companies with presses.
Thanks
Brian

My wife has the same problem. She has to have her _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx custom made as
well.
She used to use the same drawermaker as Amanda Vanstone but now has 'em custom made by Australian Shipbuilding Industries near Naval Base, south of
Perth. They specialise in sailmaking apparently,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

From the West Australian 20 May 2007:
"The search has now been scaled down for Bilbo "the missing hobbit" who was last seen by his wife in the rear view mirrors of a Chevnissan as she was driving away from a remote prospecting site in Western Australia.
Mrs Bilbo reportedly told police:
"I can't understand why he hasn't been found. He was staked out on an ant
hill and covered in honey and even if he got free he couldn't have crawled too far with two broken knee caps."
Senior Constable Gary McDonald said "It was just one of those things that happen sometimes. The 'careless hobbit' made some comment about her wardrobe and she just snapped." Also missing was a large metal detector but Constable McDonald said "She thinks that left it 'where the sun doesn't shine' so we have asked VICPOL to look for it in
Melbourne."
Cheers

Pezza and Bilbo.
If you want to see something spooky, look in Pezza's and my photo gallery under our profiles. In each of our photo galleries there is a photo of what looks like the same stretch of road in the
Grampians taken about 10 months apart.

Davies sheetmetal Railway Pde Milton.
I got 2 (1200x2400)sheets of 1.6mm gal cut to various sizes to make my _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx $140.
I did the bending myself.
They will also do the bending if you are unable to. They only take cash or cheque.
Cheers

Thats sound great .................. I'm only after Approx 1800 x 700 mm with 150 sides as a finished draw with ends.
I dare say 1.6 mm will be thick enough or I may have to go to 2 mm at least then it should not sag with a bit of weight in it.

Its very hard to make a good undertray drawer. Especially from scratch on a tray thats already fitted. So I'd guess they would baulk at the time/effort/hassles/costs involved.
Its pretty much impossible to make these _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx dirt and dust and water proof. So their usefulness is limited and they don't hold a lot. I used my undertray space for my
water tank and a split rim spare.

I understand where your coming from on that Phil. But all i was after was the draw folded into a rectangle and a rail down each side ................ not after it fitted to the vehicle or anything, I am going to fit it to my vehicle.
My purpose is basicly to house oils, recovery gear, socket sets / tools, shovel, various spares when on a trip. Next to the tray will be a tube to take my poles for my tarp.
I just want the gear I hardly use out of the back of the vehicle.
If I get a few things as i want set up I figure I will be able to do some bigger trips and simply sleep in the back of the ute.

Brian, I had a 'dirty' slide in spot under the back that had all the sealing problems that Phil described. I could get my shovel in there and the highlift and
camp ovens and the like just as you want. It didn't actually have locks but couldn't be seen unless you looked underneath.
The weight bacame an issue, and the thing just weighed another 30kgs or so but it was useful.
It wasn't actually a drawer but I had to make sure I could get out anything I slid in there. I could! Not there now I don't have a permanent tray.

How do you mean it became an issue ? ....... I am looking at making it a draw within a cabinet (so to speak)
IE the sides to be 2mm C section with sheet metal over the top and bottom with a sealed rear end. Inside will be the slide draw with metal slide on the draw and the bearings on the 2mm C sections.
This is my idea at this stage.
Did you have issues with yours and if so what were they?

Brian, sorry the w e i g h t of the tray became the "issue" on the back of the Nissan. I now don't have it, just have a frame. Took out the tool box with the tray. I have mountings though under the frame to hold the highlift, shovel etc. I pass them through loops and pin them.
Taking the tray out and having a frame there instead took out about 200-300 kgs. Very expensive but worth it to me. I still put the tray back on, but it is on the frame then. I still use the ute as a ute with a fire fighter slideon over summer.
