I read somewhere a while ago that there were tracks in the Crows Nest (north of
Toowoomba) area, but I can't find any information about it or find the article to contact anyone about it. Does anyone know of these tracks and where they are? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I have also heard about some in the area, but never been out to look for myself. There's quite a bit of
state forest area around there, and typically state forests have some reasonable sort of tracks. I believe too that on the road from Ravensbourne down to Esk that there's a heap of tracks that lead off this road into the bush. Again, can't confirm but have read about them.
If you're local to
Toowoomba let me know and I may contact you and see if we can arrange to go for a run up there and have a look around sometime...

Is it supposed to be some sort of 4x4 park or just tracks through National Park that you are asking about..
I don't know of any parks although there was a guy who had some property up that way years ago toying with the idea.. I don't know if it ever went ahead and wouldn't have a clue how to get in touch with him these days..
Plenty of bush out that way though..

I can't say that it was right, but the article made it sound as though they were tracks specifically for 4WDing, but in saying that, it did say they were relatively easy, and it was probably written by someone who'd never even seen a gravel road, so it's likely you could drive it in a Daewoo Matiz (no offence to anyone who owns a Matiz...) In all honesty I'm pretty new to this game (I only just bought my first fourbie), so I wouldn't mind something easy just to get me started, but I don't want a graded gravel road. Anyway, I work in Rosalie Shire's Engineering Dept and most people I wok with know the Crows Nest Shire pretty
well as they border one another, but noone knows of any actual 4WD tracks, but a drive through the bush would be good enough for me for now - just to get the new toy off the black stuff.

98roo,
If it is a bit of fun you seek, close to
Brisbane you could try Mt Mee. Most of the tracks are easy but fun for newbie's and even some to
test the more skilled drivers so a newbie's heart rate would definitely increase in these sections. Now you don't even need a permit (so I read on another post here tonight).
Enjoy your new toy.
Trevor.

Thanks a lot for that Bruce. Don't know how I didn't find that when I Googled it. It's funny, all those routes start at
Hampton, and one of the blokes I work with lives at
Hampton, and he didn't know about them. But then again, it does say they're all on public roads, so '4WD tracks' probably didn't click when I asked him. Sounds like a good day out for a drive through the bush. Thanks again mate.

G'Day 98roo . We live just south of
Toowoomba we have done seventeen mile rd numerous times no more than a gravel rd but there are some good tracks off into the forestry but as usual they are closing the best of them.
