I have acquired a second camera, the same type as I already have mounted on the roof rack of the Troopie as a reversing camera. The monitor has two plugs so that I can switch between two cameras.
I was experimenting yesterday as where to fit it on the front of the vehicle when I thought why not fit it so it picked up on the front tyres.
Then a second
bright idea. I get this clunk noise on full lock some times. So now I will mount the camera to pick up the steering rods and see if I can pick up where this clunk is coming from.
Once that I have finished looking under the vehicle while driving I will mount the camera somewhere on the front of the vehicle. I should be able to get the wheel placement spot on then and I will also have some thing that Roachie doesn't have, a camera on the front of the vehicle as
well as one on the back.

Willem,
I wish I did have some more time. It is almost the end of March, soon it will be
Easter and with a few short trips coming up in the
Vic High Country it will be May before I know it.
That will be the time that I will take time off from my day job to get ready for the next 5 months on the road.

Bugga....I am already using the 2nd outlet on my set-up, for the camper trailer's camera. Might have to see if I can rig up TWO more cameras.....BOTH will be on the front, one on each side so I can monitor BOTH wheel placements......might even have to mount them on remote-controlled turn-tables (will use the servos out of my boys' remote controlled cars), so that I can swivel the camera/s around to look at other various components under the truck (like ramp-over clearance when
rock-hopping etc).....hahahahaha
Oh, BTW, this IS Roachie, but I'm using Bucky's log-on......He's STILL here at my place (can't get rid of the mongrel!!!!!!!!! hahaha)
Cheers
Roachie

Bill,
If I had a Nissan I would be worried about the ramp over and wheel placement and bits falling off the vehicle. You would need a bank of camera to watch every inch of the vehicle. LOL.
I see you are still thinking all the time even though you have had your wings clipped for a while.
BTW how are you going and how long before you are up and about?

Mate, I'm
well and truly up and about and "thinking" all the time.....lolol
The back feels very good and I've just gotta be careful not to do anything stupid, like lift stuff, vaccuum the house, wash the dishes etc......So, to avoid risking any damage to myself, I find it is safest to stay outside in/on/under the Patrol and tinker etc.
Oh
well, at least of got this Mexican here for a few days to keep me company and help me keep an eye on the quality control (ie: temperature) of the Engel in the Chev. It's a never-ending task to ensure the gold cans are always just at the right temperature.

Wayne,
I've also been hunting down the clunk that everyone has. IMO, it comes from the front part of the rear leaf springs - those wrap around bits. I got rid of the clunk a short time after dismantling and greasing teh rear springs (and adding an extra leaf), but it soon came back. Only other clunk I het is from the shovel handle in the front chassis tube, but I should get off my butt and space it out.
cheers
phil

While you are spacing out you butt I will fix the camera on the back springs and
check out what is happening.

Hi Wayne
I eliminated the 'graunch' in the front end. It was sway bar bushes- replaced all round with Nolathane and now all good.
The 'clunk' has been narrowed down to where the two transverse steering arms are close together on the L/H/S. Under some conditions the upper arm rotates forward & aft and the upper arm makes contact with the lower arm. I took it to my local TruckAlign and they tightened & adjusted something?? and that has reduced dramatically (although not completely eliminated) the 'clunk'.
With all the camera
views- it's gonna be like a V8 Supercar or a F1 racer !!! In a recent 4by magazine- a guy had mounted a mini-camera into a waterproof mini-torch housing, and this was cable-tied to the bullbar, with USB cables back to his puter in the car. Would make for interesting footage..!!
