I have a Coromal Pioneer camper trailer (2004 model).
I know that the 7 wires going to my trailer plug should be: (1) Yellow - LH indicator, (2) Black - reverse/auxiliary lights, (3)White - earth, (4) Green - RH indicator, (5) Blue - Electric brakes, (6) Red - Stop-lights and (7) Brown - Tail & Rego-plate lights.
The Coromal camper trailer doesn't have reverse or an auxiliary light (that I know of) - so can anyone tell me - what is the Black wire (No.2) in the camper trailer connected to?
TIA :-)

Maybe it is 12 volt auxiliary lights inside the camper powered from the car??

Hi Jamas,
If your van has a battery setup, then it may be an active feed to keep your battery charged while driving.
Cheers

I checked for this - it's not charging the camper's battery ...

Hi Jamas,
Do you have a 3 way fridge in the camper?
check whether the aux (No2 wire) supplies 12V power to the fridge and/or internal/external lights in the camper.
It is a fairly common set-up.
FWIW I have fitted a dash switch to my set-up to allow me to turn the van power off to isolate that wire (No 2) when towing anything other than my van. Prevents electrical problems with non standard wiring on other trailers etc.
Cheers

Possibly - I also have a switch in under my Patrol dash (to turn the power off or on) for this wire. It was installed by the Patrol's previous owner - but for his caravan - not for my Coromal Camper. If it is for the fridge, I will need to devise some way of checking that possibility. The fridge, when switched to 12v, currently draws its power from the deep-cycle battery in the camper. So it doesn't seem likely, still - I'm hoping some Coromal owner or maybe someone who works for Coromal might know. I guess I should email them and ask. If the answer doesn't turn up - I will.
Thanks to all. :-)

Black wire number 2 can be used for but not limited to the following.
Running the fridge in your camper whilst driving (not very effective) as you can't get a whole lot of current to run that far on that thin a wire.
Setting up a reversing/work light on the back of the camper.
It seems as the previous owner has a switch in ine that he was using it for either of these two reasons. I use it to run the fridge whilst driving, I have put a bypass switch in it because tyhe fridge in my Pioneer draws as much as 13 amps which will drain my second battery in about 4-5 hours. If we stop for length of time I flick the switch to protect the battery completly draining. In any case even with the car running and the camper battery on DC the fridge temp will rise 4-5 degrees from the time we leave
home until the time we reach our destination. At the moment I put drinks and veggies etc in the camper fridge and anything crtical like milk and meat in the Waeco in the car.
My next step is to run a set of 60amp cables via anderson plugs and a second battery isolator so the car will charge starting battery, then second battery under hood and then third battery in camper.

Thanks IT_Dr. Since you use it to run the fridge, you must have discovered where the Black wire ran to in your Pioneer - and from what you have written, I am assuming that it runs to the fridge - is that what you're saying?
I realize it may be used for different purposes, but what I am trying to find out is what Coromal have connected that black wire to. :-)

I assume Coromal use the same setup as Jayco, so as mentioned above, the 12v feed is for the fridge and lighting and on board battery.
There should be a small switch inside the camper which isolates the battery, and if Coromal use the same 240v to 12v power supply as Jayco, be carefull........when connecting the battery, white cable is negative black cable is positive!!!!

Thanks Muzgitt. I've not found any small isolating switch in the camper and the cableing isn't heavy enough for charging the battery - (it doesn't anyway - I checked). It could possibly be to the fridge - I'm hoping someone can tell me for sure. The camper has it's own deep-cycle battery and, as far as I know, all lighting runs from that. I believe that (when switched to 12v) the fridge also runs from that same deep-cycle battery. :-)
