A few weeks ago, someone on the
Forum inquired as to what was done in a diesel tune- up.
Well, I took out a 2nd mortgage on the house, and sent the missus out on the streets for a few weeks- and booked Troopy (1hz with Denco turbo) in for a tune.
Had it done yesterday so here's a summary of the job card:
Remove all injectors & test/
Check spray patter & cracking pressure/ strip clean & lap injector bodies (injectors were replaces @ $580) set cracking pressure/ refit using new sealing washers/start vehicle &
check for leaks/ Run vehicle on dyno & access power output/
check wastegate actuator for correct operation/ adjust turbo boost to correct setting (was running 4- now 9)/ adjust fuel calibration to suit/ retest under load/
check boost fuel actuator & adjust/
check under load/ road
test.
Hang smelly deodorant thingy off mirror.
So there ya go- and in the end, I really didn't need the 2nd mortgage.
Did it make a difference to performance?? For sure.

I have the exact same setup. I was lacking power and found abnormal amount of rusty crud in the second fuel filter, removed and whoa...its got go!
Mine is running 7psi.
Do you think if yours was still running 4psi it would have made any difference? I was going to get
mine tuned up but now, It just feels like it doesnt need it. What about fuel economy? have you noticed any changes yet?
Did you guys get the denco kit fitted or did you buy the vehicle with it already installed? Reason I ask is I am interested to know how much they turned up the fuel screw. On
mine it was only turned up 1/4 of a full turn.

Turbo was fitted to vehicle when purchased.
Yes, the fuel filter was replaced with the tune-up as standard procedure (even though the 'old' one had dome only 3000km).
No figure on fuel economy yet, as it was done only yesterday.
No idea how much the screw was turned up.
The main reason I had it done was cos of a mate in a similar vehicle had a hole burnt thru a piston because the injector spray had narrow to a jet . My reasoning is that a new set of injectors (or serviced injectors) would be a bit cheaper than an engine rebuild!!

I paid $605 in
Perth for the same thing. Probably could have saved $50 if I wanted to wait and go elsewhere but time was precious
