You will not regret going into Lorella Springs as it is only 35ks. off the road on a good gravel track. It has a nice camp ground with good toilet block. There is a nice hot spring pool to relax in which is in the campground and a bush bar open in the evenings.Other spots to visit in that area are King Ash fishing camp and a tip here is to drive through the campsite and follow the track to the river where you can have free camping. The other fishing camp Limmen Bight is also good especially if you have a dinghy.Further on is a good free camp spot at St.Vidgeon ruins on a nice lagoon. If time allows make sure and go into Lawn Hill. There is also a well set up c/park at Roper bar right on the river---take nets for the cherrabin. There are many other spots but hope this helps.Iwill also be up that way in Aug.

Just to add to what Rambler said,,,, and i totally agree with all he says.....

You can actually drive through the campsite at Lorella Springs and a track (70kms long) winds you down to near the mouth of The Rosie River,,, down there you will find a boat ramp,,, plenty of river bank to fish from,,, we caught a good couple of Queen Fish off the shore there one afternoon with lures...
Beware of Salties down there but a good ledge there to camp above,....
Probably the most remote feeling place i have ever been to...
Billabongs line the track most of the way to the end also...

Bit like a Junior Overland Telegraph Line...

Hi Claudie
Lorella is a nice place to camp, shower + toilets, you can catch redclaw there if you have operahouse pots. The track to the "rosie creek" is extreme!!!!!!!!!!!
We went in April, so you will not have the bogging problems we had. I was towing a 4.45 quintex hornet. So just the car would be a lot easier, that said without our difflocks and winch + ground anchor we would never had made it. 75km = 8.5 very hard hours!!!.
Was it worth it? YOU BET YA!!!
Most isolated place iv'e ever been. That said remember to take antibiotics and any other 1st aid gear you think you may need. Remember you can't get to the doctors in a few minutes or even a few hours.
Wayne & Pat were running the show last time i was there, very nice people!!!
Ret owns the place but lives in Darwin.
Would i go again? Yep next year on our round oz trip.
Enjoy!
any info i can give just ask.
Regards Lyndon & Bernadette

I would love to visit Lorella but camp fees quoted seemed excessive for bush camping. Not worried re isolation .Just would like quiet ,secure [re. theives] spot to camp and poke about for a barra. How were fees when you were there? Thanks Murranji

Hi Murraji
Yes, it's not cheap!. Just looked at some old records. Don't quote me on this but i think it was $20 PER NIGHT AT LORELLA & $30 PER NIGHT AT ROSSIE CREEK CAMP.(please note, not much in the way of facilities at Rossie Creek, bush shower, water from lagoon). Was it worth it?. We think so, very remote, very pretty. My point of view, nat parks etc should be free, private land i'm happy to pay.
Check out this link to see some pic's off the rossie, sorry have not yet edited it.
Pic's with icon's are movies(need broadband)
