Hi folks.
We are (my wife's passion and lifes quest) in the process of purchasing a B&B in Tassy (near Hobart sort off). I am about to get out of the Army and help her live her dream (mine to just quietly). We have chased the money for years, but after taking a years off and travelling around OZ in a 38ft motorhome, we declared it time to have a lifestyle.
As the B&B has about 45 acres, I have decided to incorporate a 4X4 Driver Trainning / Recovery area. Along with Caravan and Trainer driving and reversing (much needed I think).
We are looking to offering alternative accommodation for people wishing to camp aswell. Maybe at a later date throw some cabins up ????

Just wondering if anyone in the Tassy area has any ideas or if they think there is a demand / need for such a service within Tassy?

Cheers, Drive Safe.

TAFE in Launceston use to run a 4WD training course. You may be able to link in with their program if its still going. Phone 1300655307.

You should also be aware that 4WDing in Tassie can be quite different to the mainland.

Whilst basic driver training is creditable, it won't necessarily prepare a driver for some the conditions they will come across in Tassie.

I have'nt lived in Tassie for some time, but would suggest you contact some of the local 4WD Clubs.

Good luck

Regards

Kim

Thanks for the reply.
Yes I am aware that Tassy is different terrain and unique to 4x4 in. I spent parts of my childhood on King Island and in Tassy and did alot of off road adventures with my folks.
I have driven (4x4) in all parts of Australia and in several overseas countries with the Army. I will do reconnaissance of the areas that I can use within parts of Tassie and intend to offer my service to the public along with the Army unit in Hobart.
I am a fully qualified and certified driving instructor, with on and off road. I am also IV in work place assessment and training. So, I will be able to offer certificates on completion of the courses I conduct.
As for working with the TAFE. That is something I am in the process of discussing, but not for driving, but for drink Drivers Education.
Hope fully this along with the Wife's B&B will be a wonderful and profitable venture.
Cheers,
Brad

That sounds really good Brad.

Keep us informed on your progress.

One thing that just came to mind (if you have'nt had the experience), have a look at some of the Black Peet? country in the highlands.
