As a potential new van buyer one option I am looking at is a Roadstar van (with independent
suspension). I know they are not a Kedron nor a BT, but then I don't want to go to the
places these vans will take me all the time. I want something that will with stand the outbaclk corrugations etc.
What are users
views on these vans? - are second hand ones a good deal - there seem to be a lot about?
Thanks in advance

I'm not sure anything other than a
well built off road van is designed to stand lots of "outbaclk corrugations etc". Thats exactly what we bought ours for, and IMO the harshest conditions you can drag one over. As long as you have the clearance, rutted, washed out off road conditions that might look more "off road" would put nowhere near the strain on the whole rig than 1000's of k's of massive corrugations.
I looked at the Roadstars at Nambour and they were asking just as much for their true off road vans as Bushtracker etc. This new crop of "off roaders" eg trackvan etc look to be normal Roadstar road vans, sitting on a 6 inch chassis and some decent
suspension.
Comes down to how much "outbaclk corrugations etc" you expect to do, how much you want to spend and how brave you are ;-)
Good luck,
Matt

We own a 19' 6" RoadStar Trackvan and have had absolutely no trouble with it. Having the extra clearance on the trackvan is a real advantage when trying to find a
camp in a popular area as ground clearance allows you to access
places where other vans cannot go. I tow
mine with a Pajero DiD Exceed and am not after going to the extreme offroad conditions, which if I did, I would tow a camper trailer. They are a very good van and other owners that I have spoken to say the same thing. I have towed through a lot of corrugated roads and have done no damage to the van but tyre pressure, speed and
suspension play a big part in driving over this type of road.
