Hi Guys,

I have just installed my Trailblaza 40L Fridge back in my ute and am wondering how long do they normally take to reach the lower thermostat setting. The fridge is sitting in the back of my Patrol Ute underneath a slide on home made canopy and has constantly been running for at least 3.5hours now. The fridge is filled to about 80% capacity with drinks and food. Is this normal to take so long to cool down.

Thanks

Depends on how cold the food was when you put it in the fridge and what temp the thermostat is set on..

It can take ages to cool it down if the tucker is not cold or frozen when you put it in.

Hi D

A good quality empty fridge will take around 2 hours to cool down from 30 deg C.

See Fridge test but a full fridge of warm product could take a lot longer.

It is always best to precool the food and precool the fridge and then transfer to food over.

Regards

Derek.

I think That is too long for its first run to cool the cabinet down , being only 40 litres ?
You sure you have`nt got it on a freeze setting ?
You should get a temp gauge and see what it is doing.
JayCar have top little digital fridge thermometers around $15, they display inside and outside temps.

sounds normal to me, let the fridge run for at least 12 2 14 hours for it 2 get to a working temp, if you run the fridge 24/7 you will eliminate this prob. Try turning of the house fridge for a couple of days and see how long it takes to get down to freezing and cold for beers you will be suprised how lo0ng it takes. I have a explorer fridge freezer same system as the trailblazer and i have run it 24/7 for the past 8 yrs 12&240 volt and have found this to be the best for the fridge and the 12 volt system on the 4x4y as the fridge and insulation is always down to a cold temp. You will also be able to play with thermostat settings once the fridge has been running for some time, when all the insulatation is cold you will be able to turn thermosatat down to 1- 2 for longer life on 4xbys batterys. Always keep the fridge full even on 12 &240 volts as you cant keep fresh air cold Col

I have a Waeco 60ltr and from 30deg to zero ( fridge empty ) it takes 20mins ...

If the food etc was cold, 3.5hrs is too long....as said before, check the thermo setting

Yes, taking far too long @ 3.5 hours.

Check the setting as sugested by Gronk.

If you cought some nice Barra and put them in the fridge they may 'spoil'
I should not say it but if the settings are correct and no fridge problems then the Wayko looks good from here... :((
