Hi all,
started to look at my insurance on the 4bie came to mind that I might geta better deal by grouping all my insurance through one company, however I don't went to spend my time shopping around and answering the same questions several times over.
Has any one used an insurance broker?
Would you recommend them?

Noldi, dont know about a broker but I was with the RAC for 9 years and the premium just kept heading moonward, last straw came when they said we'll only let you pay monthly if you pay an extra 10% on top, rang APIA {Tel; 132555} and as a block {house/car/van etc} they cut $360.00 of the premium and the policy is better ie if you've had max no claims for 2 years the no claims bonus is protected for life at NO extra cost, true to form after I joined we had 2 claims one storm damage the other the wifes glasses and they were brilliant, handled the whole claim fixed everything the way it was and no excess to pay, just as the ad says , they were thier when they said they would be and it went perfectly, 100% happy

Dave

Hello Ian and Nola. Don't know your age but in case your over 50 you could join "National Seniors Association". They can offer great insurance deals as we have found out.
Last year we replaced our Nissan Patrol with a new Navara. At this time we didn't have either vehicle insured through National Seniors (COTA) because we didn't know about their insurance connections. The Patrol's insurance premium was $917
(full comp. $400 excess). When we changed over to the Navara we couldn't believe the insurance hike that arrived at renewal time. The insurance was through GIO and it had gone from the $917 to $1261 for the Navara.
So we decided to
shop around and contacted National Seniors as we were already a member of them. They put us onto COTA and for full comp. full glass replacement $400 excess etc.etc. the premium dropped to around $640. We were wrapped and went with this offer. Sometimes age does have its benefits.
Of course if your under 50 please disreguard the above.
Cheers, Wayne.

Hi Shaker,
can only give the facts, the 10% saving alone was worth the effort, but truly all up $360 saved and the only differance in the whole policy I could find was windscreen cover, some companies let you have one free claim on this per year but APIA didn't ,weighing it all up we were still quids in with them, by the way after the claim was settled and done a cheque popped throught the letter box for $50.00 which I queeried, they said that because they didn't ring to make sure I was happy with the work done within 2 weeks so they automatically give me compensation, couldnt believe it, what an amazing change to be singing the praises of an insurance company instead of bagging them, think I'll be staying put mate LOL

Dave

True Blue,
yes got a quote from them too while thier quote was good what put us off was the "joining fee" cant remeber how much it was but it did tip them over the budget thought it was a bit stupid to have a fee to join but that was a couple of years ago do they still have that ?

Dave

Give TCIS or DRG a go, they are both Insurance brokers. I think I'd be safe in saying a large no of 4wd club members use TCIS.
Cheers

Yep, I agree.
Just changed over. We got their you
bute goanywhere coverage, doing basically anything PLUS $2500 worth of camping gear, which is covered even when set up and unattended, for $200 less than the run of the mill comprehensive cover with HBF. Vehicle is insured for agreed value plus accessories (came in around $25,000), also included unlimited windscreen and no claim bonus protection. Also agrred on cover for over 25's (thankgod Braydens got a few years to go) Vehicle insurance was about $600
The camping gear was the bonus (about $100 per year) as having a ute, we found our previous insurance company would only cover our equipment to a limited value as an extension on the
home and contents, providing it was kept/stolen/damged from within a locked vehicle. Not so good on a ute with a canvas canopy eh?
Although, make sure you read ther PDS, info etc, as your needs may differ.
