You just have to be prepared to watch it in 3 parts and stay up till 11.30.

Either that or record it, but thats illegal isnt it ?

Nope, not illegal unless you show it in public or offer it for sale.

Im going to watch it,not that I expect anything new. I think people are slowly getting it around their heads that oil in copious quantities is no more.
Sure, there is lots of untapped reserves around the world but they are deeper and lower quality.
The good quality, cheap to extract in large quantities stuff is probably past its 50% mark which means the flow slows and comes with more muck in it.

Making things worse is most of the available oil in the ME or Africa is surrounded by civil wars and corrupt governments.

Watched a bit of it last night. Scary, but then again all those Y2K doco's on SBS were like that too. (and had exactly the same John Carpenteresque ominous, tinkly, repetitve, underlying piano music sored in a minor key) For the record, I haven't been burnt to a crisp as the SBS ozone documentaries predicted as well (with the same ham fisted 'scary' editing and sound design techniques you may recall)

Dunno. May well be true but either way, I'm making hay while the sun still shines. If the producers think it's going to make me quake in terror and lock myself away in a box for the rest of my life waiting for armageddon, they are seriously mistaken. Had the opposite effect for me. They clearly have never lived in a share house. That open choc milk in the frige doesn't last too long no matter how many notes are put on the door saying 'it's mine and don't you drink it'.

Drink up while the barman's serving I say. Make mine a double.

Fossil fuel. My drink of choice.

a film without editing, sound effects, music, lighting etc, is called a home video.
Every professional video is designed to trigger the emotions with these elements - you wont notice them if they are done well. Inc news, ACA, TV commercials, corporate, documentaries etc. This doesnt mean that the content is fake or exagerated, but it's supposed to enhance it - rather than bore you. Having said that it is good to be mindful that it is there to capture your attention, and to put your mindset (attitude) in line with that of the producers, and remember to form your own opinion. You have to watch a home video or security footage with no agenda to see something as it really is.

Unfortunately I didnt get to see the doco, but I do think we should stop relying on oil so much. We don't have unlimited resources of anything, but especially oil. Renewable resources with clean emissions is definately a good way to go.

Well aware of edit techniques and I was trying to point out that these 'documentaries' are intended to cause fear in the audience rather than rationally examining a subject and letting the viewer decide. The devices used like scary music, direct shots of NTSC TV's etc are all intended to sway the viewer subconsciously. That is not a journalist presenting the facts, that's a video using all the tools at hand - including subconscious ones, to make the viwer react one way. Anyone unfortunate enough to watch ACA or Today tonight will see the same tools used ad nauseum to make the audience 'boo' the dodgey fridge repairman or politician. It's electronic age Punch and Judy for the masses.

They are persuasive 'sales' type video - not a reasoned discussion of the facts and should be treated as such. I class it entertainment, maybe info-tainment tops.
