I have loaded some pics showing the canvas bra for the Cobb mesh base. This one fits inside the base keeping the original appearance of the Cobb Cooker. i used it this way before taking these photos and there is no heat-affected areas on the canvas bra.

Klaus is able to make longer ones which will go around the outside, he is sending me one to try. i personally like the inside jobby as it is unobtrusive.

I have no affiliation with Infront Camping Gear, i am just a satisfied customer who is pleased to give a very helpful man running a small business a helping hand. He has bent over backwards to help me out and Mick O would also say he is one of the good guys.

He also makes a range of other canvas goods so visit his site Infront

Good one Wayne. Yep I'd agree 100%. I've got mine around the outside and it improves the performance and saves having to find a resting place for the cobb that's out of the breeze. A simple and cheap alternative that works. Cheers Mick

Wayne,
I have one of these Cobb's and have experienced the heat loss issue when there is a breeze. MY solution was to just wrap some Alfoil around the outside, tuck it over the top before putting the heater unit in. I feel nervous about having a combustible material inside and have found the foil solution works ok.

Yep Alastair,
That would work too.
The bra in my photo has been used once and there was no hint of heat impact on it, I kept a close eye on it during the 2 hours of cooking, remembering it is not directly exposed to the radiant heat of the beads and has the cool air blowing against it from the outside anyway. It runs at the same temperature as the mesh, which is able to be picked up during cooking

For those who are concerned about that there will be the outside bra as well.

Thanks for the link waynepd. Just went to the Infront site and bought a canvas rubbish bag for the spare wheel for $37 plus postage. Looks the goods especially when you compare it to Michelles sacs dirty gear bag at $149.

Brenton, hope your infront rubbish bag is better than mine was. It lasted 2 trips and fell of somewhere near Sheepyard Flat. I would recommend not putting anything in it other than cans and paper! You will understand when you see the size of the straps, the flimsy undersized buckles and the minimal sewing where the straps attach to the bags. I paid my $40 and then paid $120 for a Michelle Sacs bag - which is a great bag. BTW, I have bought many other items from Klaus and am happy with them. He needs to rethink the design of the rubbish bag though.

Hi Moggs,
did you raise this with Klaus? He seems very approachable. I gather you found the bag after it dropped off so you could return it and ask for repairs or modifications to be done.

Thanks for the heads up Moggs. I'll have a good inspection when it arrives and speak with Klaus if it does look flimsy . I notice on the website that the bag is advertised as ver 2. What version did you buy that you had the trouble with?
I agree that the Michelle sacs stuff is good and we have a few of their other items ..BUT...$149 for the dirty gear bag is way too expensive IMHO.

Hi Guys, sorry for the late follow-up - no access to EO at work. To answer a few q's.

Yes, I raised it with Klaus. I actually had the bag back to him the day after it arrived as when I was fitting it to the spare wheel one of the plastic buckles snapped. I posted it to him and he fixed it, sent it back, and enclosed a $10 note to reimburse me for the postage costs. His service is excellent.

...and no, never did find the bag - only noticed it had fallen off when we were many kms away. I reckon either the plastic buckle snapped again or the small 'square' stitching on the straps tore out.

The bag I had was the V2. It is essentially the same as the V1 - only difference is a velcro pocket on the front (with the logo) to store rubbish bags in.

Maybe he has improved the design - but if he hasn't don't put anything too heavy in! BTW, I still get stuff from him - latest was a porta-potti cover - is a greaqt product. I hold no issue with him over the bag - if it had cost the same as the Michelle Sacs one....well...then I'd be cranky.

Moggs,
I received this from Klaus this evening when I got home from work and I promised him i would post it for him.......

hi
i noticed in your forum
a guy by the name of Moggs
lost his v2 rubbish bag,
i can't reply in the forum
but my guess is that he did not cross the straps over the back of the spare wheel
since we have sewn the straps in a cross fashion we have not heard of anybody loosing one because if you just put the straps over the tyre straight it will naturally fall, even though we sent them out crossed
can you post this for me please
it comes under this heading

Hi Waynepd, thanks for the info from Klaus. I did however have the straps crossed over behind the wheel. It still fell off somewhere near sheepyard flat. My guess is that the small plastic clips broke or it tore through the canvas at the top stitching. The top stitching was only two small 2cm squares on each corner of the webbing. I am unsure what he is referring to re: :sewn in a cross fashion. Mine had the sewing only on the corner points with an unsewn horizontal piece of this strap between the two top ones. If I still had it I would post a photo! It is good to see Klaus is still excellent re: information and service. I hold no grudge and would still buy again from him - not the bag though! lol! BTW, the Michelle Sacs bag uses seat belt webbing that is sewn fully along all edges to reinforced areas of the bag - that sucker aint falling off!

Fair enough Moggs.

Sounds like you must have had an earlier version doesn't it....
To clarify also I didn't show this thread to him he read it and approached me to pass on his message. So its good to see he takes an active role in staying across the industry and his prospective customers' needs and problems.

I have relayed your reply to him via email.
