Just returned from 2 weeks in Tassie.
An update for a few people that asked a few questions.
Spirit of Tassie: We booked a 4 berth Cabin and a Cruise
Seat, but never used the
seat. Although cramped, 2 Adults and 3 Teenage kids (youngest 12, yes, not really a teenager), fitted OK. The Cruise
seat was crap , bit the Business Class
seat (return leg) was FAR better (but still not utilised).
Accommodation: We decided to leave the CT at
home this time , and use Cabins. We prebooked Cosy Cabins (or affiliates) everywhere we stayed. ALL were clean and comfortable, but some were better then others , and the cost is NOT the major indicator. We would use them again.
Despite what I was told , we REALLY enjoyed
Port Arthur , especially when on Guided Tours with information being provided.
Bruny Island Eco Cruise: While not cheap , in fact pretty $$$$ we found it EXCELLENT. The operators are first class, very informative , and very funny. The Boats are top rate , and despite not really being a sea person , and it being "very lumpy" , no
sign of seasickness at all. Absolutely recommend.
Couple of not so highlights:
Keep left unless overtaking, seems to effect the Taswegians as much , if not more then the mainlanders.
Socalled "Tourist" operators or establishments who seem to forget their Income , comes from Tourists.
Not enough time to see everything , and will need to do 2 or 3 more visits.
