Anyone able to give instructions on removing the centre dash section (radio/cd surround)? I don't want to break anything, but need to get at the radio.

Barry,

Don't have a 100 series, but do have an 80 and late model Hilux, and with both of those, if you remove the screws in ashtray area, the rest just "pops" out. With some persuasion. Remove ashtray to find the screw/s That panel around radio should have 4-6 clips that slot into main frame of that section. Once you get a bit of movement, often easy(?) to work out where the panel is mounted. Good luck, hooroo...

Thanks Bob,

I have had three 80 Series and had the dash off several times. The 100 looks a bit harder - there are no obvious screws!

Have you got a local Kmart, bookstore or Repco that you could browse trhough a Gregory's manual? Thank 'em, then quietly retreat.

Bob,

Posting this for any others interested.
Spent a bit of time tugging, pushing and pulling various parts and found that the entire centre section of the 100-series dash is held on with press clips (three at the top, two each side and three at the bottom). Start from the top centre by squeezing a finger or two between the dash top and the radio trim, then ease your fingers to one side and ease the front panel off. After the first clip comes free, the others easily follow. The whole panel then swings downwards with all cables attached. The radio can be removed with just four screws.

Maybe go and ask your friendly local Toyota mechanic..
Im betting a dash would be a few 1000 to replace if you phukt it....
