Hello
Just want to thank all those members who took the time and made the effort to help me resolve my battery charging dilemma whilst camping for extended periods in State Forests and National Parks. Special mentions go to Derek from ABR, Robin Miller and Outa Bounds!!
After much soul searching, I have decided on a Yamaha EF1000iS coupled to a Durst Smart Charger. This combination should allow me to charge both my Wet Cell Batteries and my AGM Full River DC90 battery as
well.
A couple of comments I received are worth mentioning. One mentioned noisy generators and the other reminded me that generators are not allowed in National Parks. The noise level of the Yamaha EF1000is is 47dB at 2metres. I checked up on noise levels and found that Normal Conversation is 60dB at 1metre so on balance the generator should be very quiet indeed. The problem of generators not being allowed to operate in National Parks is obviously something that I will need to approach with a modicum of common sense. It does seem a little strange to me that it is legal to run a diesel/petrol engined vehicle whilst stationary but not a much quieter generator.
Thanks once again for all your help.
Brian
