Hello,
Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.
I have a 60L Intrifrigo 12/24v fridge that I want to use in a horse float. Is there any way that I can run it off 240v mains power?
I have been told that I can get an inverter but the only ones I have seen have been to convert 12/24v into a 240v power plug, but I want it the other way around, to plug into a 240v power plug and run my 12/24v fridge off it? Does this make sense?
Also it says in the stats for my fridge that it needs a nominal input of 38.5W so I am guessing I wouldn't need an inverter anymore than 100 watts?
Confused!
Thanks in advance.

The AC-HW1310 from this site would be sufficient for your use.

What you need is a power supply that takes 240V AC input and converts to 13.8V DC output. At 60L you would probably need one that is capable of at least 8 amps but it would be wiser to
check what your fridge draws on startup first.
There are heaps of them out there and prices vary from under $50 for the cheapies to
well over $300 for the variable type units (which you do not need).
Check the Waeco, GME, Jaycar and Dick Smith sites for models and prices.

Great... thanks for that info!
So do you think something like this would do the trick or do you think it is too much of a cheapy?

I find the RPC people sell incredibly reliable stuff - why ? cause they sell to people off the main
grid that use their product every day to live off, not holiday wanderers - like me. So not related by family or business to those people but I have bought stuff off them and have been down there and they are very serious about what they do.

That looks like it will do the job nicely and the price it very good. When I referred to cheapies I should have said 'basic' instead, meaning not many features.
I would buy one if I was in the market.

That should be fine, but as grungle says the start up currnet should be fine.
Can you get a rfund if it does not work or take your fridge to the store.
Otherwise Dick smith will have them ( not sure of price) and you can take it back for up to 14 days no questions asked.

Cool, thanks heaps for all the help guys. I'm on the right track now, my partner has a GME 13.8DC 35A Regulated Power Supply that we can try and if that works fine I will keep my eye open for an 11A one which should be enough. Thanks again!
