Went into Supercheap Auto at Gosnells today and bought a set of little Sockets at $79.00, Made in Taiwan, not China and some of the other HSV
tools are German, The set I got is actually a CR-V brand which is a good brand, Supercheap use to sell the sets a few years ago in the blue cases of which I have 3 sets and never had problems with them, yes the HSV
Tools are a good top quality . the web site is
www.imsinternational.com.au/
and click the HSV Logo

One of the biggest 'problems' of buying
tools at supercheap or anywhere else for that matter is not the so called or percieved "quality" it is you buy a socket set which 9 times out of 10 is choka bloody full of sockets YOU will never need or use ,IE: your vehicle only has metric and the set has 50/50 metric and imperial or BFS.. ect ect.

The set I got today is all Metric, some of the other sets I have are both, and that can be handy , very handy , but I guess not everyone can be easily pleased ,

Hi Doug, That sounds a reasonable price for good quality sockets that size, in desperate need of a good set myself. Made the big mistake of buying china CHIT!,
Never Never Never Never Again!!.
Cheers Axle, ( I think thats who i am lol!)

CR-V is not a brand name. It's what they are supposed to be made out of :Chrome -Vanadium ie hardened steel. I say "supposed" seeing that you bought them from Super crap.

The Sockets are in a Blue Plastic Case, the Case has on it CR-V Series. .hen using the letters for a metal it is printed as Cr-V , They were made in Taiwan , are good quality, the Brand was CR-V , who made them I don't know, There is no manufacturer name on the case , , I didn't post about HSV
tools to have a week long debate or argument about CR-V , If you don't like HSV
Tools move on,
Doug

You kind of contradict yourself in your reply. I'm not debating on your HSV tools. Just informing you that CR-V is not a brand name. Cr is the chemical symbol of chromium. Chromium is steel-gray, lustrous, hard, metallic, and takes a high polish & Vis the chemical symbol of Vanadium and is used as an additive to improve steels.
I'll stick to my
well proven, although slightly more expensive Snap-On & Blue Point.

You`re right on the money there Sarg, Cr-V is the grade of steel that some
tools are (supposedly) made from & I`d bet London to a brick that if people had experience from a tool failing ie: Busted knuckles, cuts & contusions... Ouch... Then they would opt for quality, Snap on, Blue point, Stahwille, Proto etc, & besides that they`ve invested a motza in the 4bee so it goes to follow, why would you buy a two bob tool kit... & that`s my two bobs worth.
Cheers Ron.

Thanks for the occludes Doug, 30 yrs on the spanners sorta makes me qualified in the subject matter. And anyway you should know by now, one little slip up...intentional or unintentional will bring bring the fleas of a thousand camels upon your head... & Dusty would be very put out by that.
Cheers mate Ron.

Sounds good Doug, I am in need of a set of sockets for the car, I might have a look at the 1/2" drive set in my local superchit tomorrow.
I use minimax
tools at
home, but don't want to take them on the road in case of loss etc. I would rather have a dedicated set of
tools for the car, so that I know that they are already in there, ready if needed.
Regards
Stu

my thoughts on tools
anything that does not have a
well known brand name on it is what people with little knowledge or correct use of tools, or who constantly loose them should buy
If you look after
tools buy the best quality if you want them to last the distance
