It amazes me how often people ask for help & when they get given the answer, often by somebody that has done some research specifically to help them, there is no further acknowledgement from the OP.

How hard is to say thank you, thanks, thnx, thx, tyvm, ty ???

A typical case is Post ID 44825, albeit one of many!

I'd just like to say thanks Hairy for saying thanks, in fact a really big thank you for your huge thank you. Oh by the way, thank you is two words, not one. No need to thank me though!

First of all Id like to thank you for the correction of thankyou, but if you think I had any intentions of thanking you for the thank you think again.
Cheers (Australian for thank you).

Gee, thanks Gramps.
I wonder If there is any sort of protocol like, you should put in a thankyou, oops I mean a thank you say every 2 relpies.
If this was the case D-Jack would be bordering on bastardhood.
So on behalf of D-Jack...Thank you Gramps.

Ps. No need to thank me D-Jack. But you know what people will say if you dont!

Cheers

That thought occurred to me many times which is why I always say THANKS IN ADVANCE to all who reply as I know theres times when I cant open that thread till later then by that time no one will re open that thread, but I'm sure everyone who answers my threads knows I'M VERY grateful but I'll say it again
THANK YOU ONE AND ALL,and PLEASE keep it up,
best regards,
Dave

I agree and have been at fault on occasion.

Here's my problem. I like to wait until there seem to be no more replies, then I say thanks to all. However, it's not always clear when that time has come. If I wait too long, the thread will have progressed into a vast quagmire of past threads and I'm sure that whether or not I reply, most posters won't go back to see if there are any more posts, including whether I have said thanks.

Perhaps I need to say thanks each time anyone replies, which I know some members do, but it looks very mechanical when every thank you note is identical to the one before it.

As well as the point you make, part of the problem is the very popularity of the forum resulting in threads rapidly passing rapidly into the aforesaid quagmire!

Maybe it needs to be assumed that receivers of help, as members of a great group, are grateful for the help.

Fizz

I try and reply to all who post to my topics. I really appreciate that people take the time and effort.
However, some are not so keen on my sense of humour, and don't like me to reply to their posts.
Others just plain don't like me. Awww..poor Footy
But to all of em...Thanks.

'People are not teaching their children so it only gets worse from here on... '

That's why we place a lot of emphasis on manners with our little one. The proof is in the pudding. We have been complimented on several occasions while out for dinner on how well mannered and polite she is. It's not that difficult. The funny thing is, at times and generally at home she can be very rude and cheeky....but then she is only 3.

I'm personally not that fussed if the thankyou post is not forthcoming.

What irritates me more is when someone answers a post with a "slam dunk" correct answer, and some numnut comes along an gives the same answer several posts later, or even worse disputes it. (I know that sometimes you don't see the post because some one posts while you are answering, but this can be easily determined.)

No need to thank me for this, thanks, but thank you if you feel like thanking me anyway.

Cheers !!!

I had the same thought a year ago Shaker, THANKS for reigniting it.

I would like to thank once again:

All that have EVER helped me.
All that have EVER helped others.
My Mum as its nearly mothers day.
My wife for putting up with me.
My therapist for all her help.
My children for all the craap they took from me.
My boss for the pay packet each month.
My Prime Minister for all the tax money he takes to help others.
God for making me, me.
The Middle east for making me gratefull to live in such a wonderful country.
Etc, Etc, Etc.
THANKS ONE AND ALL.
And you Shaker, THANKS.
