Hi all,I'm just wondering when is the best time to go to frazer. We were planing on next feb but friends of ours that are going with us was informed today she wont be able to go then. Now we want to go but out of holiday season eg not during school holidays. September this year is also out as we will be else where. Is there certain months that we shouldnt go due to high winds or big rains etc. Has thrown us right out so now have to reorganize again with 4 other couples/vehicles. Regards Steve M

In my opinion give November to late February a miss especially if you have anyone in the group who reacts badly to insect bites. The marsh flys are prevelent at that time of year and can take an arm off :)
I'd suggest you try July - October (excl Sept hols) if you'd like to try the tailor fishing. Even for someone who hasn't fished much before one hot session on these could be something you'll never forget. Even the kids can join in on the lighter gear as Dart can be targeted with pippies as they hang around the tailor looking for scraps. Just look for a good gutter or a mob of fisherman at dawn or dusk.
Check out Ausfish or Fishing Fraser Island for tips on gear & techniques if you go down this path.
March & April, October are probably the best months if you are just going to be doing the touristy things of hitting the lakes etc, as the water shouldn't be too cold to take a nice dip.
Cheers
