G'day all, I just recently took posession of a Nokia E65 and am looking for a decent GPS receiver (bluetooth) to use with this phone. Looking around I see that there are heaps of bluetooth options available.

My limited research suggests that most people point to the MTK and SiRF Star 3 chipsets as being the best, and it appears Nokia makes a GPS receiver that has the SiRF 3 Chipset.

Has anyone here had any experience with the Nokia LD-3W GPS Receiver? If so how did you find it? What was the reception like if used whilst walking/running/cycling?

I like the look of the nokia unit because of the form factor and the convenience of being able to charge its battery using the same charger that came supplied with my E65.

Cheers

My idea of a GPS is that if you want a GPS then go and buy a Garmin GPS and if you want a phone then get a Phone and if you want the 2 to communicate via Blue/Tooth the Garmin Nuvi 660 is a fantastic setup along with a B/T Phone

There is not a wireless Nokia GPS that could beat this one

All BT GPS today use the standard USB charging cable, which seems to be a better option if your device fails, then you can get the latest and greatest once again and use the same charger. However, all BT GPS come with a cig charger and in some cases a wall charger. You are correct in saying that the MTK32 and the SiRF III are apparntly the best option, but, in fact the MTK32 is a better choice by far as it uses only half the power a SiRF III, thus instead of only getting 8 to 11 hours running time you get 23-25 hours running time before having to recharge. The MTK32 is as sensitive as the SiRF III but has better tracking. It is also cheaper by 25 to 30%. Get the Holux M-1000 from this store and you wil be right.

The Garmin Nuvi 660 is good, but the Novogo S700 is better and cheaper. Although the S700 doesn't have the extra 0.5" it can have tracks from standard GPS file format installed, something you can't do with the Garmin.
