Well, we had a slightly embarassing situation today. Jodie and myself went "looking" at some caravans in the dealers yards and just while we were looking at the last one we layed on the bed to
check for "foot overhang" and next thing we knew the jockey wheel was two feet in the air!
After getting ourselves off the bed and walking out the door of the van, the car salesmen at the car yard next door were having a good ol' laugh! Is it normal practice for caravan yards to not put the stabilizers down?? Anyway, we came out unscathed. (Now waiting to see the comments on this one!)

Yeah, Yeah, There must have been a hell of a lot of downward pressure on that bed to cause the "A" Frame to lift in the air, that's REALLY testing the bed.

Uncle, hey don't feel embarrassed, reminds me of the time Sibil and her friend who always seems to accompany her & I were looking at Caravans, the look on the guys face was priceless when we (the 3 of us) expressed interest in the bed big enough for the 3 of us in one he showed us....Then when I was a lad I bought a new Corrola and took my squeeze of the day to Audley for the express purpose of seeing if indeed the seats layed right back,
well they did and it was not to far into the
test that the whole car shook, the wind screen and rear windows bleep tered, and before I could muster the sense to ask 'did the earth move for you' there is this scream from outside.... When we gained enough composure to investigate we discovered that some pervert had been standing on the
cliff against which the Corrolla ( all of 4 hours out of the showroom) and presumably in his cretinous efforts to get a better view of my backside he caused a landslide, the car was a writeoff and we escaped with 'minor cuts and abrasions' but the perv was severly damaged and required ambulance attention, the
ranger interviewed us as the "cause" of the accident and the Police charged him with 'failing to have enough sense to take a movie of the action'.....
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh Memories.....

We had a wind up van a few years ago; fairly old, and the 'feet' were impossible to get down, and as we moved on each day, we didn't bother. The pop out beds were small, so he (the weighty one) had the one over the jockey wheel, and i could safely sleep in the back end bed without loss of stability. We usually bush camped, but one night we stayed at a CP in
Newman, to take the
mine tour next day. I was only sitting on the edge of my bed, when he came to get his book - just crossing the axle. I don't know what the neighbours thought as the van tipped right up. He moved slowly back so it righted itself without any damage.

Many years ago my husband and I were checking out vans for sale in a large but slightly dodgy yard. My hubby went a long way ahead with the salesman as I continued to investigate one particular van. I managed to lock myself in the shower. Lots of yelling and screaming eventually brought help. I also get a bit of claustrophopia so I'm not sure whether I was more frightened or embarrassed. Hubby was very amused.
