Can anyone clarify the terms of Telstra's My Hour.

Description on website says "My Hour - Nominate one hour of the day or night to receive the first 20minutes of each voice call (and video calls if you have a video mobile (3G) made within that hour free. You can call any eligible fixed or mobile number within Australia any day of the week (not available on $10 plans). "

What exactly is an "eligible fixed or mobile number within Australia any day of the week"

Does it mean any telstra fixed line or is it any fixed line in Australia regardless of the provider.

My understanding is its any fixed line and any mobile regardless of the service provider. Just need clarification before we head off on big trip.

Hi, my friend has 2 plan ( $20) phones ( Telstra) and they have 4.00 to 5.00 on one and 5.00 to 6.00 on the other and you can call any phone ( Home or mobile ) in those times free ( 20mins) then hang up and ring again and you can go for another 20mins free, They have just been in WA and have been ringing us on our mobile and home phone all the time,
It is one of the options you can get with your phone plan.
Cheers Des.

We have been using My Hour for a long time now.

i have three interesting points

1. the calls have to be initiated during the My Hour - but can go past the hour.
ie - we always squeeze one last call in at 3:58 when our free hour is 3pm to 4pm
as long as this call doesnt exceed 20 minutes.

2. My Hour is applicable to the time zone were in not where we bought the phone (i did see someone applying for a rebate at the telstra shop cos he thought his My Hour was different in different states )

3. Dont always trust the time on the phone. We always start our My hour a couple of minutes into the hour - we have been caught out on this one a couple of times $$$

Good points, Swampy.

I'll add that if you are near a border, check where you are receiving your signal from; the inlaws were staying just Sth of the QLD border during DST and didn't realise that they should have been operating on QLD time. Some phones show this on the screen.

Regardless of what the service provider offers and tells you, make sure that you check your accounts closely for 'accounting errors'.

Absolutley, positivley and ALWAYS check your telstra account. look in places where they try and bury subtle but expensive little "accounting discrepancies' ie in my last bill that has the whole of home except internet on it in my mobile part of the bill I discovered a "Late Fee" of $15. Not applicable to me as i Bpay all my bills so on further investigation and after discussing ( acrimonoiusly) the matter with Telstra it was removed.
DIO brilliant advice, trully brilliant. I'm sure there is a "ripp off the non thinkers" section of Telstra who skillfully ensure you need an accounting degree to decipher their bills.
