Every few years I build something to keep me busy. I am just starting to contemplate my next project, at this point in time I think I will build a 5-6mt caravan. Has anyone here ever built their own, or know of any websites or books worth looking at. I don’t know whether it is practical but I would like to consider building the main chassis and structure out of aluminum. Any thoughts or suggestions?
I do not do projects to necessarily save money so I am not interested in whether it is economic or not.

Vin
Coromal uses an aluminium frame, and steel chassis. I believe Jayco use an aluminium frame but they have an interesting floor structure - from memory a combo of steel RHS main rails and aluminium frame cross members. Might be worth a look. Good luck with it. JD
