Big Mike
Will be camping at Alice on State of Origin Game 3 night and want to see the maroons crush the cockroaches again. There will be a large group of us and Dont fancy going into to town to a pub, was thinking about hiring a big screen or something for the
camp. Any ideas of where to short term hire from or where it would be pleasant (not sure of right word to use), enough to go in Alice on footy night.

If there is all this violence and gang wars going on in
Alice Springs, why is that we dont hear about it.
Surely is isnt a case of dont publicise it in case it scares the tourists away.
If they are so worried about scaring the tousists away they should be getting on top of the situation any way they can.

We always get the warning about increased violence in town, every time we go. Luckily, we haven't struck it so far, but are pretty cautious. Only had bricks and bottles thrown at our car once as we were driving through.

Yes it is.
The local TV station is aboriginal owned so they dont broadcast it.
Why dont they do something about it.......because the police are too scared of being called racists and there arent enough of them.
There is a group of locals called advance Alice who go out and patrol the CBD, since they started the police have been a bit more proactive.
Its still a great place to visit as long as you are carefull and best to not go into town at night.
Cheers

I agree with Hairy, only been there a few times and I love the town, and yes, I dont go out at night. As stated earlier, it is always a bad element that get branded and it reflects on the whole community / group. There are probably just as many black kids chroming on the street in
Brisbane, as there are white, but people tend to look past the white kids. Am sure this will still be a hot topic 100 years from now.
