Hi folks,
I use a Dell Axim x50v PDA for a variety of things including as a GPS. I currently have a 1gb SD card and a 2gb CF card.

What is the biggest of these cards that people have used?

I see that 2, 4 and 8gb CF cards have halved in the last 4 months. The 8gb card would hold plenty of maps and more music than I could want for a trip........
I just want to be sure the larger storages work before I buy.
Thanks,
NickR

Have a look at Site Link but I have a 4gig SanDisk Ultra CF card working ok. 8gig CF card shouldn't be bad.

Hi Nick

I have a 4 gig sd in my pda as gps and a 4 gig cf in my laptop - both for map storage -they work just fine.

A word of warning - a lot of memory cards on ebay while cheap are not genuine - see martybugs.net/articles/fakesandisk.cgi - they work ok though.

Nick,

Dunno about the Dell, but I have an iPaq 2210 connected to GPS and have both SD and CF cards and I find that it doesn't work too well when navigating AND playing music.....the music tends to get chopped up. Perhaps the old thing doesn't have enough RAM to run it all properly.

Re the eBay cards.....DONT DO IT. I got scammed with a 2GB CF Card for my camera....it was a fake and doesn't perform anywhere near as fast as it should. I know this because I have a high end Nikon camera which really tests the limits of the cards, particularly when downloading them to computer.

The best place I have found to buy REAL Sandisck cards if from a mail order company:

" target="EOF" class="lbg">www.expansys.com.au/n.aspx?f=28

No affiliations etc, just got a good product at fair price with quick turnaround.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Mark

I've also got a Dell Axim X50V and running a 1gb SD and 4gb CF. I'm also thinking of going up so will be interested to hear if anyone has run larger CF cards. I've got the MP3's on the SD and maps on the CF. I wont buy these off Ebay as there are too many fakes even with sellers with high positive feedback. My son got burnt with one. They read the correct capacity but won't store it.

Very droll
I couldn't find the one that said "insert latin quote to make yourself look smart"

I changed it this morning to one less negative
I did have Animadvertistine, ubicumque stes, fumum recta in faciem ferri?

I do like Antiquis temporibus, nati tibi similes in rupibus ventosissimis exponebantur ad necem

now that is an insult with class!!!
