Hi Folks. Yep it's tyre info required again.
I have a caravan running 15 inch rims and for an upcoming trip I am thinking of making the GU's 265x75R16's interchangable with the vans. To do this I would need to make the rotational size of both the 15 and 16 inch tyres the same (or very similar). I understand the 15 inch rim may not fit on the GU because of disc brake clearance, but what I want is to have 2 spare 265x75R16's for the van (which I have in the shed) and buy two 15 inch tyres to suit my existing 15 inch rims already on the van with a rolling diameter of about 804mm (which is 265x75R16 rolling diameter). This way the vans spares can also be the GU's spares without extra expense of changing rims on the van to 16 inch. I do need the new tyres to have a specific load rating of no less than 112 as the van is very heavy on single axle and I have had history with tyres of less load index going POP.
Can anyone see any flaws in my way of thinking and if not is there a website link that someone can give me to look between brands/sizes and load index all in the one site. Most of the sites I have found do not give specific load index of each tyre.
I have worked out a 265x80R15 and a 32x11.5R15 will have similar rolling diameter to my Gu's 16 inch so working out the prospective sizes is not an issue.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
Trevor.

There is only one correct way to do this, get 16' rims and put the same tyres on.
If you try your way you are only looking for trouble IMOA.
Cheers Steve.

Don't know the exact answer to your question Trevor, but from what I have gleaned from being a member of the Patrol4x4
forum, you CAN fit 15" wheels onto a GU without any issues, except that if you put them on the front, they may foul the steering linkages. I haven't tried it in any form as I don't own any 15" wheels.
If you have the 15" wheels there already, you want to just
check for yourself. At a pinch, you may be able to get 15" wheels onto (at least) the rear end of your GU without any dramas.

You are correct Roachie. The 15 inch should fit (and have on other GU's I have seen) but I thought I would cover my bases and stop someone telling me they won't fit LOL!!
The crux of my Question is about the website to compare all brands with sizes and load ratings. I have enough info to work out what I need but not one website to tell me what is available in each brand of tyre.
It seems possible that my wife and son may join me down at
Warraweena, if so I will be pulling the van down and I want tyres from the car to interchange with the van as spares.
Thanks for the input.
Regards, Trevor.

Hi Roachie,
I believe it also depends on the offset of the rims. I run 15" Sunrasia Rims on my Mitsi and had the offset problem with the first set of rims, I had to use Yota rims.
I would expect the Nissan to be similar, but not sure what rims would clear the linkages.

Hi Trev,
Can I see any flaws ? Yep, a big one... that is, you going on a big trip when I can't !!! LOL.
You have to be carefull doing what you want to do as tyres are never the same actual size even though their advertised size is the same.
My 33-12R Buckshots are really only 32", My 35-12R Pro-comps are 35".
The only way to do what you are wanting to do, as I don't know of any websites that you are looking for, is to choose maybe 3 brands of tyres that you would be happy running on the van then going to the tyres place and getting the rolling dia. on those particular tyres and hopefully finding one that's within a couple of mm to your 265's.
Some particular brand websites, ie.
Dunlop, Maxxis, Cooper etc, have the rolling dia. of each individual tyre they sell, that may help if you're interested in that brand of tyre, a lot of brands' websites don't have this and you are just gonna have to ring or chat with them I think.
Also, don't take the 804mm for granted if you worked that out mathematically from the advertised size, physically measure them or
check Bridgestones website, unless that is of course where you got it from to start with :-))
Cheers
Pezza

Thanks Pezza,
I have worked out a few possible tyres to suit but none of them tell me load index. I was hoping to get a few more brand options and get some load index ratings in one foul swoop.
Thanks anyway.
Trevor.
