Just found the ideal way to go for those who have a new Next G phone with bluetooth, and was looking for a handsfree kit ,
well if you don't have a Garmin Nuvi 310 0r 660 , and can't find a hands free kit for it then this Car radio would certainly do the job in style,

The built-in Bluetooth® Wireless Technology offers safety and convenience – enjoy audio streaming from digital audio players and cell phones, or make hands-free calls. The USB port and MP3/WMA/WAV compatibility offers various listening options, while MOS-FET power amp and TI/Burr-Brown 24-bit DAC deliver high-resolution sound. Also the unit is ready for iPod.
Geez all this new technology takes keeping up with

Hiya Doug,
Have just put in an insurance claim on my old Meridian Gold GPS unit that is stuffed due to the AA batteries leaking acid into the casing and leaching into the screen.
The woman on the phone said that it would most likely be covered on
my home contents policy under accidental damage and would cost me a $100 excess.
This means that if they approve my claim I am in the market for a new unit and the NUVI 660 looks like the goods. How do you find yours? Particularly in terms of navigation outside cities...
Also looking at the Magellan Explorist XL which is the more direct replacement for my old Meridian (insurance company may want to restrict my purchase to nearest equivalent).
Love the sound of the bluetooth/MP3 player aspects of the 660.
Any issues that I should be aware of?
Cheers
Muddy

The 660 is one groovy piece of techmology. I love
mine, It does the hands free, plays MP3s, is a personal photo album, I have photo'a of family in it, a Calculator, world clock, Currency Conv',Trip meter, (Red Light Cam'Speed Cam' School Xings, these are downloaded from internet) , To add to it's abillity I have added a second car radio ie the standard Toyota 75series radio for $30 that does the voice Nav' and phone on FM when I listen to an AM station on the JVC, the JVC uses speakers in the door and the antenna I put on the roof rack, the Toyota radio uses the factory speakers and antenna, I have quite a system going in the Troopy.

Some day you are going to have to look up to see the next corner coming, rather than fiddling with all of your bits and peices for a thrill :o0
(Waiting to see which direction you take that statement :o))))

I've installed the Pioneer equivalent - $469 at Strathfield. Really good.

Sure is - the IPOD connection too is great - no more tuning of a transmitter or issues with bumpy roads.

To misquote from "Peanuts"
'Most stupidity is appalling'.
But in my case it is extaordinarily so. Must have taken a wrong turn about 30 years back I reckon.(But I can still make a mean stunt kite. Does that count?)
