Hi, we are going to Fraser early November with two other families. We have been there numerous times before and usually
camp but this time we are staying in one of
the beach houses near
Eurong. We usually go to the lakes etc but I was wondering what other
places there are to go and explore that aren't too difficult as one of the drivers has never driven on sand before. When I was younger, my family and I used to go to one of the old jetty's on the other side of the island, if I remember correctly it was always a nice drive and there were picnic tables there. Also, one of the other guys is looking at taking a little tinnie there and launching it off
the beach. Where would be the best place to do this and would anyone recommend doing it if you weren't sure of the conditions
sharks etc. Is it safe to go out in a little tinnie? I've heard it is calmer on
Hervey Bay side if we were to do this.

Dont mean to scare you but have a quick look at this site: Site Link
1/2 down the page
check out the old black at white of the tiger shark. If you click on the link down the bottom of the page it tells about them catching
sharks only 40m out and give good advise about swimming around there. This is at the Mc Kenzie Jetty on the west side of frasers.

Swim in the Lakes on Fraser..... they are beautiful and
well worth the visit!! The ocean around Fraser is a good place to meet
sharks, we have seen them cruising close to the shore. If you can get up to
Sandy Cape, it's worth the visit but a bit of hard driving to get there, depending on the car and drivers capabilities. We swam at
Sandy Cape, but kept a very close eye on the water as we did see
sharks there.
Have a good look on the maps and also talk to the rangers, they are quite helpful!!
Cheers
Brian

Wathumba is nice, but a long way from
Eurong.
The western side directly over from
Eurong is fun to explore although perhaps not a huge lot to do except throw a line in.
I can't really remember the spots but I think Wangoolba and Ungowa are a couple.
