Hi all so still looking at this jack, and the injectors and o rings have been replaced. Its an 98 with 210,000km on her. 3lt TD. Should it be fine now?? and apart from this is the only other main problem with them that they are on the fly??
Cheers

I own a 2000 Jackaroo 3.0 and would not recommend you buy one. Apart from injector problems they were recalled in the UK for turbo problems but not here in Australia. They have a number of faults which can easily add up to big $$$.
Injector induction pipe in sump can crack and requires replacement.
Throttle position sensors wear out quick $120 + labour
Oilrail sensor fail and take out the injector harness with them $270 + $270 + Labour.
If it is a manual it has a dual mass flywheel and clutch setup and have seen prices up to $2500 to replace not to mention the manuals appear to be susceptable to crank freeplay wearing issue which requires bottom end work and can take out the crank sensor.
Common for brake caliper rust seizures although they can quite often go over 150km on a set of genuine brake pads.
They require two oil filters ($100) and expensive 5w30 full or semi synth oil.
See forum.australia4wd.com/index.php? for more issues or details on the ones I have briefly mentioned

Wow, ah so even if the callbacks have been done its a no go??
I guess the km are getting high. Its odd so many people say dont go, but generally owners say they are great, what are they hiding and why. I really like the jack what to do!!!!! Its cheap but in great nick aaaaahhhhhhhh

When I bought mine it was intended to be at least a 10 year proposition. I expected to get at least 200,000km reliable service based upon the perfomance we got from our 2.8TD Rodeo. We have not had 6 months of reliable use since we bought it and as you can see from the S/H values it is worth less than we owe on it. Each time we have done the repairs we have hoped to be on top of it.
Depreciation over two years on a new or newer replacement vehicle for us would be roughly what our Jackaroo is worth now. So if I get two more years out of it without major costs I could just about back it into the tip and be square.
When it goes it pulls fairly well. I wouldn't brag about the fuel economy 12.5l/100km which increases to between 16-20l/100km when towing our laden caravan trying to keep up with traffic at the speed limit.
Some people don't like to admit they've made a mistake, I feel I did when I didn't get rid of it 5 years ago.

troyza, appreciate your problem. I looked hard at a diesel Jack for some time but
research frightened me away eventually, too many hard luck stories. I settled for
a 2000 3.5 V6 with 88k on it, auto, FWH, for $14K. Just done the outback thing
towing a light off road C/t (13000k) You wont buy it off me for $20k, went like a clock, av 14.9 l/100k driven sedately. Cant recomend it enough. Dont give up on a
Jack, check the V6 out & dont swallow all the rubbish about diesel being the only
way to go......oldbaz.
