Gday,

Got a nice set of 16" mags and tyres second hand (dirt cheap) for the Landcruiser and wandering if they will be strong enough for the 80 series fully loaded up.

The stamp inside the alloy mags says 865kg. Would 4 of these take the weight of a fully laden landcruiser towing a camper trailer around Australia or should I keep the original steel rims on.

which ever rims /tyres I dont use will be used on the camper trailer and for spares

Appreciate any replies in advance

Cheers

If it were me, I would leave the steel wheels on, they will be a lot more robust and less likely to get damaged in the rough stuff.

At 4 times 865 kg the total load is 3,460kg which I suspect is in excess of the 80 series GVM but may not be enough for your vehicle if you travel well laden.
The beauty of a steel wheel is that it can be knocked back into shape enough to get you mobile if damaged, an alloy is broken period in remote areas.
